Aww honey, hang in there! I know it doesn't feel like it right now but these episodes make you stronger. When things have got rough for me I use what I learnt from this to keep me going, as sad as that might sound lol

Spike showing up with flowers for Joyce was really touching, such a great relationship which could’ve had such great potential, but I loved every single scene Spike and Joyce shared together

things they did mess up though... the symptoms started after the Monks made Dawn... so, doing the math; the altering of her memories, and the interruption/rush the monks were in, damaged Joyce's brain, cause the illness... so, in the end, it was actually a magical death. so the magic caused damage to her brain, which got worse with time, a tumor developed, and its removal caused her death... so by Cause and Effect: magic caused her death, and thus it was unnatural. which means, Joss Whedon (who wanted it to be natural, thus unreversable) didn't think it through, and screwed up.

Einar Sigurðsson

a lot of assumption there. They already ruled out magic when Buffy did her trance. The timing was a coincidence probably. But it´s a nice theory!

If the key was a log or a spec of sand that snake monster would have found it and brought it back. It needed to not only be hidden but also protected.

cosmotron

IDK if anyone's told you, but the song Giles was listening to is I think the same one he and Joyce were listening to in "Band Candy". So he was listening to it and thinking of her. :(

How come you are wearing Buffy's coat? Twins!

Holi117

that song giles was playing, is the song from s3 Band Candy, when he and joyce were acting like teenagers, smoking and drinking and hanging out together in his flat... he was remembering joyce... i love that little scene so much... and I love spike watching dawn and helping her... even if it wasnt quite the right thing to do... i always think he does it because he thinks she is gonna do it anyway, and maybe she will be safer if he helps her out... God, I was tearing up watching the end of this episode, AS ALWAYS! ergh... so much emotions in s5!

Holi117

thats a really good point actually... i forgot about that... Though... couldn't they have made it a spec of sand in a bottle of sand, and given that to buffy? And then she could just like, set up an aquarium or something at the magic box haha, and they could have protected it that way

Holi117

i would have loved more Spike and Joyce time... I love reading fanfics where they get this kind of friendship, almost a mum-son relationship... i also love fanfics with spike and tara friendships too... aweee

The key was made into the Slayers sister, because blood is the strongest bond there is...she would all protect it at all costs.

As in a grain of sand...mmnnh

To be fair, it would be wrong to have a lighthearted episode RIGHT after the character died. After "the body" that episode was needed.

Still a sad episode. With a couple heartwarming moments.

Andrew Pulrang

The scene of Spike and the flowers is one of my favorite scenes in all of Buffy and Angel. I’ve always wondered how much of the rapport between Spike and Joyce was written and how much originated in the two actors’ interpretation. Either way, it’s so nice for Spike to have that moment of paying respects to Joyce and really, truthfully standing up for the genuineness of his own feelings.

Chaotic Cam

Yeah, it's still a sad episode. As for it being cruel for Dawn ripping up the photo right before Buffy opened the door, I don't know. I guess it depends on your perspective. In a way, I think it was the right thing to do. Opening the door and not seeing her is a finality. She couldn't stay, and seeing her might have made it harder, making them do something that shouldn't happen and keeping someone whose passed in the realm of the living. Plus, all the tales of stuff going 'wrong'. Who knows what Joyce would have looked like? She might look like a zombie and not like a healthy human. I think it's better they wouldn't have seen her like that, as it would have been like a punch in the gut.

Chris Peacock

Joel Grey who played Doc is a fantastic character actor. He has almost as many stage credits as film credits. He originated the role of Wicked's version of The Wizard of Oz. I've seen Wicked 3 times, but didn't make it for the original cast. Yet his voice is still the Wizard for me. Mainly because of the many times I've listened to the original cast recordings. He also originated the role of the Master of Ceremonies in Cabaret and also played the role in the movie version. The Buffyverse was lucky to have him, even for such a small role.

Chris Peacock

I was cruel. Intentionally so. Not cruel of Dawn though. It was Joss. Breaking the characters hearts. But in a good way. He did it for us.

Loving Spike and throwing shade on Riley...normal service is resumed.

"My BAngel heart" - I love this phrase. Water-proof perhaps, just not tear-proof.

Timotey Kuhn

(starts watching while debating whether or not to continue watching as this episode is nearly as wrenching as the last one and to watch you in pain seems so utterly wrong & unseemly)....Wow. You seem highly chipper at the beginning.. Impressive.

Alexis Cardarella

That last scene- It's so well acted, both of them. I always tear up.

Richard Lucas

1) I think Dawn grew up in that moment. She wasn’t being cruel to Buffy. It would have been far crueler for Zombie Joyce to show up and Buffy have had to slay her. 2) I think the show made clear before he left that Riley was on a secret black ops mission in South America. He wouldn’t have been able to return even if his own mother had died. Being able to do things like that is just one of many things those in service give up for the rest of us. 3) a grain of sand sounds good at first, but there are locator spells. Once that serpent found it, and flicked it up on it’s tongue, glory would have her key. The monks felt no one could protect the key better than the Slayer and gave her a powerful reason to. 4) I agree that Ben should have finished the job but he clearly isn’t used to killing physically himself. It was a desperate split second decision and he obviously got nervous the second he did it. Also those demons might have stronger recuperative powers than he knew, as they are clearly stronger than they look. 5) Love your reactions and thank you for continuing to do them. Please also consider reacting to Xena, a show like Buffy in so many ways.
