The first 100 or so times I watched this episode (that might be a slight exaggeration), it was hard to think about anything besides the hotel scene and maybe everything Rose said to Jeremy in the car. And who can blame me, because those parts are just amazing, especially for a Delena shipper who had been hoping for a scene like that since season 1. I could watch the clip of that kiss all day on repeat! And your reaction to it was everything I’ve been hoping for. But the main thing I want to comment on is not actually about the kiss, but about Caroline. I love Caroline, and I get why she hates Damon – after the way he treated her when he first came to Mystic Falls, I don’t blame her for hating him – but sometimes she’s way too irrational about it. Like in the scene where she’s telling Tyler about how when they killed Finn, his whole bloodline died, and now they’re trying to find out who created their bloodline and, if it wasn’t Klaus they’re all gonna kill him. Notice that part – they’re all gonna kill him. Yet just seconds later, when Tyler says that he was sired by Klaus, Caroline says “Damon doesn’t care”. True, Damon doesn’t – but he’s not the only one included in that “they” who are still talking about finding a way to kill Klaus, but in Caroline’s mind he’s the one who gets all the blame for any potential plot to kill Klaus that might end with Tyler dead.

Vampires wouldn’t be very good vampires if they could catch STDs. The Originals don’t use Matt for stuff, only Salvatore vampire group do. I love your reaction to the kissing scene it’s like you almost lost your voice or something for a minute. The little brother cockblock, so true to real life...

By the way he treated her when he first came to Mystic falls you mean raping and mind controlling her for a few weeks…….I’m pretty sure I’d hold that against someone no matter now charming they were or how many of my friends liked them. I agree about Caroline not blaming the others though….The fact that she doesn't blame the others is just bad writing on the shows part....I enjoy the show but emotional and moral consistency they do not seem to either care about or simply lack the ability to do well.

I'm glad you already mentioned the issues with moral consistency in the writing, because as much as I understand why some viewers consider what happened between Damon and Caroline to be rape -- and I agree that it probably should have been considered rape -- it wasn't considered rape on the show. Any time Caroline has ever brought up what Damon did to her, she's mentioned him abusing her, feeding on her, mind controlling her... never rape. Also, the producers of the show have confirmed that within the canon of the show, Damon never raped Caroline. Call that bad writing if you want -- I certainly won’t disagree with you on that point -- but for all the horrible things Damon did to Caroline that Caroline has every right to hate him for, rape has never been considered one of those things either by the writers of the show or by any of the characters on it, including by Caroline herself.

That’s interesting to know. I’ll call it bad writing than, because if you’re going to portray rape, which they do a few times on the show, but then choose to not call it rape but translate it as treating someone badly…..that seems to be a unwillingness/inability to deal with the consequences of the story and characters actions…aka bad writing. Again don’t get me wrong I enjoy Vampire diaries, and Caroline and Damon are my two favorite characters and I think the best developed charters along with Elena and Klaus….I’m just occasionally irked by the writing choices they make. Within the cannon of the show’s self-understanding Caroline’s blaming Damon alone is a bit off as you wrote…..but I can’t really be in synch with that canon’s self-understanding. There are certain charters who I’m always good with hating others because of what they did to them personally. Thus Elena can always hate Klaus for killing her aunt….Caroline can always hate Damon for his “bad treatment of her”….Bonnie can always hate basically anybody she wants [poor girl always has bad things happen]……Also I gotta admit I enjoy Vampire diaries more the more conflict there is between the “good guys.”

2 things always get me in this episode. 1. Nina Dobrev is seriously one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen. 2. The part where he catches her staring, she quickly closes her eyes and then slowly opens them to stare at him again is possibly the most sensual thing I've ever watched on any screen. It gives me chills.
