I'm pretty late to the party on this one, but I think the ending scene with Lex was implying Lionel set up the whole encounter with Victoria as a "test" to see if Lex could keep his priorities straight.

Yeah Eric is Shawn Ashmore and does play Bobby/Iceman in the X-men Films and his twin brother Aaron Ashmore plays Jimmy later in Smallville.

I love the music in the show too. I was 18 at the time and a bunch of the 90s and 2000s music I liked at the time was in it. I always thought they did a good job of working into show during. One of my favorite ones was at the end of a season 6 episode where Lex walks down the hallway with the meteor freaks in the cells and AFI is playing in the background. The rest of the ep was so so but that was one of my favorite ending of an ep ever. Not to mention that this episode ends with a Bush song and Bush is one of my favorite bands.
