This has to be the best sick day I've ever had! 5 episodes!!! How amazing was Sarah Michelle Gellar's acting in this ep though? My second favorite performance by her in the series. She nailed every scene!

I just love everything about this episode. SMG does such an amazing job playing Faith. And who doesn't love, "I could ride you at a gallop until your legs buckled and your eyes rolled up. I've got muscles you've never even dreamed of. I could squeeze you until you pop like warm champagne and you'd beg me to hurt you just a little bit more. And you know why I don't?... Because it's wrong."

Woot finally caught up on all your videos. So yeah this was an episode when it came out that made people hate Riley more than most fans already did. I won’t defend what he did because he could have said no to her just based on the fact she was acting different. But I will say events happen that make people behave differently sometimes, especially traumatic events. There was no way he could have known it was not actually Buffy herself. But I get where people were coming from. Can’t wait to see your reactions moving forward.

So, about the scene with Willow and Tara doing that spell? Joss says on the dvd commentary that he wrote it as their first sex scene. Since Willow and Tara were the first Lesbian couple on primetime cable tv, they relied heavily on metaphor during the early days. Magic = sex.

Faith raped Buffy and Riley at the same time. Very disturbing and something I hadn't really thought of back when this first aired some 18 years ago.

I'm one of the ones who definitely does not hate Riley for this. How could I? He had no idea it wasn't Buffy. In fact, I see it like ASR does - rapey. He would not have consented to Faith if he'd known it was her, ergo she raped him. Same deal as if in real life, somebody's long-lost identical twin brother had sex with his twin's girlfriend. Getting angry with the man for being raped seems a little harsh.
