>>> !!!FOR SHANNAN!!! <<< 1. Yes ...You are correct about that note on 3x09 ...You: "I dunno.. They sent something through and it got shot down" ....Ronon in his delusional state shot down the U.A.V. thinking it was a Wraith Dart ....Sooooooo... My solution holds up ...They COULD. have sent a Jumper through to save Sheppard and his team ....Good fucking luck to a delusional Ronon firing his gun at a Jumper and shooting it down (although improvised cannonballs seem to do just fine taking Jumpers down sooo) ...But I WAS. just suggesting to fly the Jumper through the gate and parking it right next to it ...No need to fly around ...Especially since like I said ...The gate was located inside a forest and so flying would be difficult ....The fact they even managed to get the U.A.V. airborne was a miracle /rant 2. And to continue on a note I made a couple of episodes ago when this "Intergalactic bridge" was first brought up and I told you I used the idea while we played Minecraft ...And how I used teleporters to bridge the gap between our old base and our potential new base ....There were 6 teleporters along the path and at the halfway point was a shipwreck that I named Midway Station ...Now you know where the name came from 3. Y'know ...They did a VERY. "TV Show gotta TV Show" move at the beginning of this episode ...This Ancient ship has apparently been traveling the void between the Pegasus galaxy and our Milky Way galaxy ...The odds however that it would so perfectly pass by the Midway Station / Daedalus at the EXACT. time and place we'd be there is beyond astronomical ...Even IF. that ship was traveling in a straight line from Atlantis to Earth ...And even if the intergalactic bridge was also lined up exactly the same for SOME. reason (It's not) ...Both the location of Atlantis AND. that of Earth would have shifted over 10.000 years ...And even the SLIGHTEST. shift would mean that ship would NOT. pass by the area that the Midway Station is located ....Space is VAST ...The odds of this happening is just ...It's not impossible ...But it's improbable ...Very unlikely ...TV Show gotta TV Show 4. You about the Ancients taking over Atlantis: "You can't just come in here kick off your shoes and be like.. get out!" ....Weeeeeellllll... Sheppard makes a good argument ...What if you were forced from your home by war only to return many years later to find someone's on your couch ...Eating your (very passed the due date) chips and watching your TV ...Would you be like McKay and say you're fine with that?? ....No you wouldn't 5. And as for us being ok with them taking their city back from us ....Imagine a race of people who are MUCH. more advanced than us ...Telling us that we need to leave THEIR. city ...As much as we made this city our home and defended it at some very high costs ...It's still THEIR. home ...Remember the scene from the first Avengers movie where Nick Fury is told off by the council that it wasn't Fury's call to give the tesseract to Thor to take with him to Asgard... He responded he didn't make the call ...He just didn't want to argue with the god that did ...This is a similar situation ...Where we (humans) are dealing with a group of people (Ancients) that are vastly superior to us .........Although this episode ends up making them look like chumps and they're killed off quite quick which is just embarrassing 6. But... You ARE. right ...It's hard to believe that the Murican government would so easily give up control over Atlantis ...Not that they could do anything to stop the Ancients since it would probably be more desirable to try and keep relations between Earth and Atlantis on a friendly level ....It's a tricky situation to be in ...Luckily Woolsey isn't a bad guy and he's come through for us in the past ...Although it's still a bit of a slap in the face that Weir didn't get the job ....What hell does the I.O.A. have against her?? 7. Cue to a scene where Sheppard steps through the gate at the SGC wearing a green uniform ...He's now part of an SG team on Earth ...I'm curious though why him and his team aren't wearing SG patches ...What SG team is he on??? .....And why are they wearing green uniforms?? ...I feel like they wear black nowadays on SG-1 8. Lee is bragging he had an advantage over people cause he had the beta to an expansion for World Of Warcrap ....Yeah ...Ehm... Progression from beta's gets wiped on full release mah dude ...Also ...Weir is claiming her race is "Mage" ....That's a class ..Not a race ...Lee SHOULD. have seen through that lie /nerd-cred 9. HA! I was wondering when this scene was gonna come ....Beckett basically shouting "My turtles!" ...Basically every time I see this dude on screen ..THAT. is the line that pops up in my head 10. Weird ...The Atlantis expedition was told to pack up their stuff and leave the city ...This means they took EVERYTHING. with them ....Yet here we are.. Part 2 ...O'neill has somehow gotten his hands on a P90 and Woolsey is carrying a handgun ...Where did they get those weapons? ...added later... O'neill later on goes for a swim and there's a crate on the floor underwater that's clearly Earth design ...How did it get there? 11. Landry locking out Sheppard's teams IDC is actually the right call Froots ...They know they're dealing with the Asurans ...Who can stick their hands inside your head and extract any and all information they want to possess ...Like for instance the identification code to the SGC iris ...Which is all the Asurans need to come to Earth aside from just rewriting the code to use the intergalactic bridge ...We don't need that kinda trouble right now 12. Yeah you're probably reading into things ..I don't think it was intentional that a female Ancient was in charge and easily taken out and replaced by 2 male Asurans ...What IS. fucked up however is how EASY. the Ancients were taken out and how they're just GONE. 13. Something is also bothering me about the Asurans ...They act too much like the Ancients ...They AREN'T human ..They're machines ...Shown to be capable of communicating with eachother over vast distances ....Why are they talking to eachother verbally acting like they're people when they could be talking in ONE. voice without even actually verbally communicating ......But then again ....Star Trek nerds would call out the fact that they'd be acting like The Borg ...A race of cyborg "people" that communicate as one voice 14. Beckett gets slightly offended when O'neill isn't impressed he's part of the rescue team ...Dude... You shoulda brought your turtles with you ...Imagine a bunch of teenie weenie turtles saving Atlantis ...Bish ...I'D be impressed 15. I LOVE. how O'neill is just not taking this whole thing seriously ....Really shows how much he's been through that a bunch of sentient machines just don't phase him ...He's the embodiment of "been there done that" ...I suppose it's also a sort of defense mechanism though ...Making light out of a dire situation which I can relate to ...But it's fun to watch 16. Froots... We would have been defenseless against the Asurans if we'd have stayed on Atlantis ...It's stated in the episode ...Without a shield to protect the city ..The Asurans would've destroyed the city from orbit ....Sure they could have attempted to take the city from us and we'd put up a fight ...But they'd send back-up and we'd be vastly outnumbered and lose the city regardless ...This was the best outcome 17. Also you keep giving Landry shit for making wrong decisions ...He's in fact making all the RIGHT. decisions ...Locking out the IDC codes ...Proceeding with the plan to destroy Atlantis ...All in the effort to STOP. the Asurans from being able to reach the Milky Way galaxy ...He's doing his job and is doing it well ...I mean... SURE. ...Sheppard and his team are on Atlantis trying to retake the city by way of an unsanctioned mission ...But their plan to do so is FULL. of holes ...Protecting Earth and the Milky Way galaxy is a TOP. priority to the SGC and Landry had no way of knowing Sheppard and his team were succesful 18. Yeah it's a good thing the Asurans didn't notice the obvious little blue crystals inside the console trays that were solely FULL of orange crystals ...Or else this plan to take them all out wouldn't have worked 19. O'neill mentions to Weir that if this kinda thing happens again she should consider bringing Carter along ...I wonder what Carter was up to while this all went down ...You'd THINK. she'd hear about O'neill having been captured / presumed dead and she and the rest of SG-1 would be ALL. IN. on going on an unsanctioned mission to rescue him ...Could you imagine how fucking cool THAT. episode would be!?! 20. True... This 2 parter WAS. kinda janky ...The Ancients show up and get taken out without any mention of them anymore later on ....The Asurans all of a sudden show up when this all goes down ..Convenient? ...Definitely not my favourite 2 parter ...But it was good ...Especially since we got to see O'neill again

Stargazer1682

This two parter bugs me, mostly because it undermines the ending of "McKay and Mrs Miller". It's the opposite extreme of "every new advantage we get is lost within an episode or two," where every significant disadvantage is undone in the same span. They don't have to deal with consequences of McKay depleting the ZPM, because they promptly find Ancients and in the course of this and the last episode, the City has a ZPM again; no harm, no foul. Consequently, the revelation of living Ancients, who had never ascended, effectively plucked from time in a round about way, are nothing more than plot conveniences to get us to that end result. We barely even get to see them before they kick everyone out of Atlantis and then get killed by the Asurans. It perpetuates the Ancients as being arrogant to the point of hubris, with a few exceptions. And it really doesn't make sense that they'd bother trying to fly through the void plodding along at light speed. Of all people, the Ancients would understand they wouldn't return for literally millions of years; and no matter how "ancient" their race was or how long some of them evidently actually managed to live individually, they would know they're not returning to find anyone they know and invariably not even their civilization. If anyone could figure out an alternative solution, it should have been them. Members of their race could make gates out of toasters. Even if it was just coming up with a way of getting a subspace signal back to the Milky Way in a timely enough manner that they could sense a rescue ship; anything would have to be more viable than trying to return at the speed of light and effectively arrive at some point in the distant future. I don't see how that's remotely a reasonable plan. Then just structurally, the episode is weirdly written the way they get kicked out AND mount a return all in one episode. Half the episode is what you would expect to happen in the conclusion, not as the setup to the midseason finale. The only upshot is that RTD kills it in this episode. Not only do we see more action O'Neill than we have in a long time; it's really RTD doing a lot of these stunts! It'd be so easy to have just cut away and shown a stunt double from behind, especially with him guest starring rather than as a regular; but we see him clear as day doing this shit and that was pretty fucking impressive. They just could have set it up a lot better. They could have skipped the middle man and had the Asurans take over right off the bat or something. Save the return of the Ancients for another time when they're actually going to plumb the depths of that story potential better.
