Ok Merlin “I’m alive forever in Avalon but technically I can be summoned as a heroic spirit servant since I’m “dead” in the past before I was born”. I love that Fate basically sticks to its own rules around magic, except when it wants to bend them enough to get the preferred servant into the story. That said we actually know a servant, quite well in fact, who is straight-up alive meaning they technically not a heroic “spirit” since they have not yet died at the point at which they were summoned.
