This month's Tutorial is available as a PDF attachment below

The Brush Set for this month's painting can found here:

THE GLOOMWALD PHOTOSHOP BRUSH SET

It features some great spatter and mist brushes, as well as a revised version of the drawing brush I have been using this year! The painting was made with these brushes using multiply, screen, normal, and soft layers.

The drawing brush "Viper Fang" in particular is one that I used a great deal on this painting. Probably 50% was done with it as it turned out to be really versatile.

I hope you enjoy this one!

If I use procreate will the brushes or settings in particular not crossover to procreate? Should I make any tweaks in my settings to get the proper effect?

Justin Gerard

They will just be a little different when loaded into Procreate - and it seems each time I load my brushes into Procreate I do have to do some tweaking to get them to be consistent with my Photoshop versions. Sadly, there is not a specific brush setting in Procreate I could suggest changing. Each one seems to be uniquely off in its own way. The good news is that half the time I prefer the Procreate "wrong" version when working in Procreate. The brushes are less important than the method though, and as long as I can arrange my layering in the cycle of: "lighting, then color, then render, then repeat," it almost doesn't matter about the brushes, they just make things move along a bit faster.
