To answer Jack: HxH 2011 is very accurate to the manga, around 2.5 chapters are adapted per episode (339 episodes per 146 non-filler episodes), little is left out and not anything super major.

Morel and Knov aren't necessarily the "strongest", they're just more experienced than Knuckle and Shoot, who are more experienced than Gon and Killua. They're all recognized as elite pro hunters in their own right, and they're paired up based on how well they work together. Their objectives aren't necessarily to defeat the Royal Guard either, the objective is to drive them away from Meruem.

keep in mind that killua got a massive level up after removing illumis needle. what made gon strong is the fact that he was willing to fight vs stronger opps and killua can do this now too without shtting his pants or rather with full focus

Remember, guys -- the goal isn't to kill the Guards, just to draw them away from the King for long enough, so Netero can take on the King. Which the boys should be up to, if their resolve is as strong as Gon showed here. Killing the Guards would just be a nice bonus.

Nen is subjective depending on conditions. That’s it don’t overthink everything on top of them just being the talented two. They’re matched up based on their compatibility with each other. Anything can be brought down with the right team we see that in to many shows for it to be so literal. Things happen to create the right conditions just wait on them.

This is one part of the story that I don't like too much, I feel that Illumi's needle removed an opportunity for more genuine growth in Killua's character. Instead of Killua overcoming a charater fault as described by Bisky, it becomes Killua discovering that this trait was just a nen needle holding him back... I think this would've been way better without the needle personally

Jack, there are no major manga panels or scenes that are missing or were replaced in any of the arcs. It's usually just small changes that actually make the anime more smooth; the only thing that the anime changed and affected the story a bit negatively is the first episode/first manga chapter. In the first chapter we got to see Kite and Gon in the forest. In the manga it builds up the relationship a bit more, so after the Pitou fight manga readers felt a bit more sorry because the character was introduced in the first chapter and later on reintroduced. However anime introduced Kite in the beginning of this arc. Hisoka and Chrollo didn't have any more interactions in the manga (up to this moment). And during Greed Island manga had detailed descriptions of many many cards. I think there were no other "major" changes than these. The 2011 anime version is adapted PERFECTLY.

Blood types are a thing in Japan, people there believe that your blood type has a direct relationship with your personality, like zodiacs at this side of the world, that's why you will see that on characters info page there's always their blood type. You saw a lil bit of why with Morel right there. And as what Killua said, they did nothing. Their enemies made them that way. and yep, do not underestimate the royal guards hahha

So Togashi wrote the entire Gon-Palm date farce to facilitate Killua's awakening as it was important for him to transition from an assassin's mentality to a Hunter's mentality, and also to allow him to continue with Gon on this journey. And for that to happen, Killua had to be separated from Gon, and hence the 'date' had to happen (yes, it is my least favourite part of HxH as well! I wonder if there could have been any other way in which these could have been separated for Killua to experience the awakening) The other positive is that we got to see Palm's ability which can be very useful for tracking. I also love the symbolic images in this show, like how Rammot percieves Killua as a predator (snake) after his Nen needle is removed, or when Pitou places her hand and the image of the hand shows the difference in their power levels. Jack is right, Kite said that the Chimera ant body and head when separated can survive for a day, one must crush the head to kill the ant (we kind of see Killua crush Rammot's head if you look closely after he takes it off). When Gon meets Kite and allows himself to be punched by him, yes, he is punishing himself for being weak and leaving Kite alone, as had he been stronger, he could've assisted Kite in his fight against Pitou.

The pace of the show is a bit faster than the manga and it cuts down a lot of the exposition (even for manga standards Togashi is infamous for abusing exposition), but overall the story plots and progression stay the same.

Also, I see so much of myself in Carter for his first reaction, for I, too, had the exact same thoughts and concerns, especially about the battle pairings. It is true that we are told thrice that each Royal Guard alone far surpasses Netero (Killua, Netero himself when he first saw Pitou, and Colt when he was comparing Netero's aura to the King). But Morel did explain in episode 85, that one cannot gauge the strength of a Nen user by just looking at the aura displayed alone. There are many factors to consider, their abilities, their mental state of mind, battle experience, use of wit, etc. We see this displayed in Cheetu's fight against Morel and Knuckle. While initially they are not able to watch his movements due to his speed, they adapt to them pretty quickly during battle. Even Bisky tells Killua that he always assumes that the enemy is always at its best, whereas that may not always be the case (for example, Gon, though strong, was weak for these 30 days when his Nen was sealed). Hence, several factors influence a battle's outcome and one must not make assumptions. Also, Pitou's initial attack on the group was sudden and unexpected, but fighting her again should be different as now they know their enemy a bit more, are better prepared, and their enemy is not entirely a blank slate. "And even then, even after knowing that your enemy is visibly strong, one must still fight that enemy with the intention to win", is what Morel told Killua in episode 85... it seems like such an uphill task but at the same time we are excited to see how it goes!!

Dunno if someones already mentioned it or not yet but the whole blood type thing is a common confusion! Basically they're just thought to correlate to personality in places like Japan and Korea in the same sense that people ask and state zodiac signs in the west (ex: "I'm a Sagittarius" vs "I'm type A" and such) Also while the wait can feel a bit sad I'm more of a binge watcher myself, so the 4 episode dump is my personal preference!

I think it would be much better if it's 4 every weekend. The excitement is there, and you'll feel more attached with the anime if you watch it straight. We're building the momentum and doing it once a day may affect the whole mood. Also, if the episodes are almost climax , I suggest watching more than 4 episodes. Still, I respect your time, guys. I actually have the opposite reaction to you where the needle is used to really emphasise and build on the fact that as mentioned before Killua was indeed born as a beast and the family had to restrain him in order for him to grow and survive in any means nessesery. Additionally, this also does some major character development on Illumi which was sorely lacking beforehand.

I would prefer four over the weekend and two on Wednesday, so that there are episode dumps but also something to look forward to during the week. The weekend dumps leave the week feeling dry. If you do one a day the best way to go about it would be Monday-Friday. That way there is one more episode than usual but still spread throughout the week.

Mostly just for the sake of the viewing experience of Carter, Canon & Jack because I can tell from the comments Im not the only one has noticed that they miss out so many things that describe or are literally the ANSWER TO THERE QUESTIONS because they are distracted by something else. I also understand that you guys are rewatching the show and its just as much your experience/ literally your guys genuine reaction but something to maybe just keep in mind since you guys have seen it all already Plus subtitles makes it ten times harder to keep up with everything when compared to dub especially when your in a group setting, talking with friends so I understand that to but just MY TWO CENTS, completely disregard it if you guys think this is stupid, totally understand and obviously you guys are awesome and I still love watching the reactions

Their assignment is not necessarily to kill or battle the three Royal Guards although that is very likely to ensue given what has to be done and given Gon’s vendetta. Their assignment is to divert each RG’s attention from the King so Netero could 1v1 him. Their goal does not require that they be as strong or stronger than the RGs because obviously that’s impossible. They are definitely risking their lives but that is just the way they chose to live as hunters. Remember in York New Arc, Gon also had the same assignment, to distract the Troupe so Kurapika could abduct Paku. In Greed Island arc, they also had been taksed to deal with the Bombers which they would have lost against had they not have a strategy. Genthru would have killed Gon.

Something that I think is important to think about with HxH, especially for Carter and his thoughts on characters’ power levels, is that the HxH power system is written and built SPECIFICALLY to to work around the issues other stories face with power-scaling and "unbeatable" characters. Nen abilities and users are framed in a very realistic sense, where strategy and unique match-ups can really change the outcome of a fight just as much as raw power level. It’s literally built to work like Rock Paper Scissors! A less powerful nen user could win against someone much more powerful if they played smart and had an ability that matched up really well against them!

*Spoiler free comment* I know Carter has a harder time getting around the way Hunter x Hunter tackles its fights and general power ranking since he likes to have a clear idea on which character is above and below an other, so just two important reminders. 1. HXH makes not only a great use, but also an essential one, to make strong/talented characters still vulnerable because of the NEN rules, special abilities, and even situational loopholes. Remember what Morel told Killua the first time they met. Aura capacity or raw power isn't enough to determine the winner. We also had a good example of that with Cheetu vs Knuckles/Morel. It's all about how well you play your cards, and sometimes (if your abilities aren't adaptable enough to answer your enemie's abilities) luck. Think of it as a Pokemon battle: while harder, it is possible to beat a Pokemon with a higher lvl or a type advantage. 2. Don't know if you missed this one or not, but just in case. Gon's team's goal isn't necessary to beat the Royal guards, but simply to draw them away from the King in order for Netero to go kill him. Having that in mind, a success might not necessarily mean a battle win (but who knows hehe). When you think about these two points, it might elevate their chance to success (or at least to make it out of there alive) from Carter's 0%. Maybe 4-5% lol? But don't worry, the outcome of this whole arc and our way to the climax of the story will make sense. Things might still seem hopeless for now, but like my boy Morel (can't wait for you to see how essential he is) said, 'you must always fight certain of victory'. PS: I'm okay with either scheduling proposal, but some episodes should definitely be watched in pairs (like the next two for example). And you know...if you ever want to keep watching and upload more episodes per week...don't hesitate lmaoo

The thing about Killua vs Rammot btw, is that since Killua is no longer "afraid" and forced to run, his strength isn't limited, and he's free to fight how he's been trained. This whole time, Illumi has been controlling him with that needle to run away, and he no longer has that restriction. It's not technically a power up, but it is at the same time. Oh also, to go off the conversation after episode 95, its been longer than 30 days since the Kite thing. Gon lost his Nen like a month they left the NGL, and then he had to wait another 30 days to get it back. It's been over 2 months since that happened, and they were training with Bisqy; they did get exponentially stronger since they left. Before, they couldn't even maintain their Ren for an hour, and now they can easily go for over 3 hours. So in a way, you could say they're over 3 times stronger than they used to be.
