I think it's important to consider the mental strain on Alphonse after he's lived as a suit of armor with limited senses for several years. You have to think about what that would do to your mental state, and considering his younger age too. The conversation with 66 tapped into insecurities that had already been brewing in his thoughts.

rosa_gris

Implying that one of the most beloved Anime Dads is a child predator 😭☠️ Ok, he does seem sus if you don’t know him, so I kind of agree with Cannon. Dude walks in talking about an underaged girl servicing her client, then invites her to stay at his place within the first 5 minutes of meeting her. Without the comedic tone, that’s sus as hell. Carter’s attempts to explain/defend characters’ sus actions part 2.

regarding the whole discussion about the unpredictability and how some shows have different arcs. they sort of have more of an arc later but overall this show is more about the way everything comes together in the long picture instead of having independent arcs that flesh their characters out. it's not for everyone but that's how I'd describe it. in the 60+ eps they're all like puzzle pieces and by the end you fit all of them together and see the whole picture the author was trying to portray. you won't be disappointed!!!

LuvStarburst

I can't wait for more episodes

yeeeehawwwe

Mia Malvik

The Republic attack cruiser 😮‍💨 glorious

Michael H

Holy shit, this is the first time I caught Teacher walking in the background lol. What a weird little addition.

keyton bush

Yeah I agree, plus the whole point of 66 is that Al can’t trust his memories if he’s a fake. He may remember being a real boy, but those could be artificial memories. That being said, I think it was set up and resolved too quickly.

Philbo

Watching this again, unless Al was already doubting his existence, why did he let the words of a supposed serial killer get to him so bad. Ed showed no signs of being the type of person to just make up shit to even that extent. He has consistently said that he will get his body back. Idk to me That was actually kinda dumb. Also those numbers were given to them when they were on death row not numbering them as soul bounded armor people. Like how inmates have numbers as well.

Saidah

Ik in fma that they spread that plot out longer but I honestly prefer this. I remember being so bored watching them drag it out in fma.

Michael H

Mentioning that a character they have never seen is glimpsed walking in the background somewhere within these two episodes is a spoiler? …what exactly do you think I’ve given away?

Fedei

I know that look on 34:56 caught me off guard too lol

Garrett

Wasn't really a spoiler either teacher was mentioned in early episodes before.

Mia Malvik

LMAO 😭😭 I saw the star wars lego and had to click ok. I haven't watched the reactions 🥲 I did try tho. Instant gag reflex

Michael H

Oh, wow, you’re right. She’s already been shown and called teacher lol. Then, I repeat with a clear conscience that it was a cool, little addition that I had never noticed before. A little detail that makes the world seem truly lived in.

Crayonz

I think its more of a case of Al never thinking about that possibility. He probably had some underlying insecurities as it was anyway. I know it seems off that Al would trust a random serial killer. However, it's more of a case that Barry opened a door that Al never considered as being there.

Crayonz

100% agree with this point. FMA has huge long term payoff and the viewers are left to try to put puzzle pieces together as time goes on. I agree that it feels unstructured at first. A bit like you were just dropped in the middle of a story that's already begun. I can definitely vouch that FMA leaves no stone unturned and no side character forgotten. It's far from my favorite anime but it's objectively one of the best stories out there.

Philbo

Opening his mind to the idea of that is fine and understandable but what bothers me is that rather than question what he was saying was even real and conversate with his brother about it. He just jumped to an extreme conclusion, let it eat at his mind so much. Started throwing some wild ass accusations. Also All of the things him and Ed been through together even after his soul being bound to the armor should immediately dismiss the negative thought of him being non-existent. Like yes Al is young but no kid (especially as smart as he is) is just just gonna take those words at face value and run with it.

inspirit llama

I agree completely!! it's only been a couple months since I've watched this series for the first time and this is easily my favorite anime alongside aot and Dr stone. the world building and the characters are soooo good. the story is impeccable like any questions I had were answers. and the emotions it makes me feel is insane

spring deerling

MCKAY LOL. Loving the questions! Maes was just trying to embarrass Ed imo. I can't wait for y'all's reaction to next episode 👀

spring deerling

Lil dude has been stuck in an unfeeling, unsleeping body for years now! He has no escape for his thoughts. He doesn't get to indulge in the pleasures of the senses anymore. I'd probably more crazy in I was in his situation.

Brig not liking “Again” is a contender for hottest take on the channel 😂 Not that it matters, but in /r/anime there is a yearly vote on best anime opening, and I believe that this opening won the very first one back in 2014. Any way, it is fair to be a bit frustrated with how easily Al’s mind gets swayed by Barry, and how he handled it. You could argue that he’s just a kid but I’d still say that it feels a bit forced, especially since I dont think it aligns very well with how his character has been presented up until now. Still, Winry’s reaction, the flashback to Ed and his fear of Al hating him, and the subsequent make-up scene are all great payoffs, so I’ll take it. We’re still not yet at the part that got me hooked all those years ago, but I’m excited to see your reactions when we get there!

szeth

Brig just say he doesn't like the op?

Hechy

envy and lust voices are unbearable in the dub ngl

Mysterious Figure

Can we hope to see more than just two episodes of FMAB per week at some point?

Mia Malvik

DUDE It really is that bad. You are truly cursed by the nostalgia

Ben Martineau

They brought up the bunk bed debate and I immediately knew Carter was a top bunk boy, he just got that vibe and he confirmed my thought

Hunter Snider

Good call from Carter on Winry having Katara energy, there are parallels for sure

szeth

Imo envy's voice is cool and unique but I also watched the dub first. Same with Bradley's voice but McKay be hatting on that so I'm starting to think these are hot takes

Brig Andrus

Nvm I just read and saw she won’t even watch the vid cuz it’s dubbed🥲

Face

Their Blood Seal is like a electric current. Once it's disconnected from another part of the armor, it won't be able to move that. Al's is in the torso and that means without his helmet his body can still move. He doesn't see through his helmet only technically--think of like if he had a giant eyeball in his chest--and his voice comes from the seal as well. That's why Ed said Impossible to 48 or whatever because he thought his seal was in his helmet only but it was two separate ones

kiiturii

also he's a kid, kids are always more susceptible to manipulation like that. Also it wasn't just a serial killer who said that, it was someone in the exact same situation as him. It was the first person who was also transmuted into a set of armor that he has met

Jorda Durfey

Sucks but theres some parts of fmab that don’t make sense cuz they just cut the story out like the Nina incident and why major hues is so friendly with everyone like he seems so sus in this version but in fma it tells the whole story so it makes sense

Kite

I never noticed THAT in episode 9 wow

Michael H

Haha no. It is absolutely the hot take to not like Ed Blaylock’s Bradley. It is one of the best VA performances out there, and I’m almost always a sub guy. McKay only knew him from sub, though, and it can be jarring when first making the switch.

Brittany Mitchell

Laughing so hard at McKay looking into the camera XD It's like the knowing looks between him and Brig but now its only him and the audience

Mabel

I agree! I thought that the Nina incident was done so much better in the og! I don’t expect them to watch the whole thing but it would be fun if they watched a couple episodes of the og to compare, I think this about watching and comparing 1999 hxh too.

Freja Holmberg

Guys why are alle the rest of episodes lucked, i am litterly paying for the big tier with everything in it, like what is going on, why cant i see them?
