Automail is just mechanical prosthetics! Winry is amazing in her own right for being so young and being the one who made eds arm and leg! Scar is a super interesting character and I can't wait for y'all to see more. I think besides the different philosophies and thinking the show makes you do about what's morally right and wrong, the characters and their bonds are one of the best parts in the story. Also seeing McKay struggle to keep his mouth shut is hilarious. One thing I do wanna point out that I think is hilarious on Eds part is that during his state alchemist exam when Bradley asks him about his automail arm he says he "lost it in the eastern conflict" LIKE OKAY DUDE you were absolutely too young to participate in the war you goofy mf, and he did it all in front of the nations leader-- the guy who gave the extermination order. Oh, and yeah Roy and Armstrong do have transmutation circles on their gloves so they don't have to constantly draw one to perform alchemy.

I just KNEW Carter would eat this show up, I'm happy it seems like the others who were iffy at first seem to be more interested now too. I'm so excited for more.

Most state alchemist have the circle already drawn or tattooed on their hands or gloves so they don't have to draw it every time, that figures that you see in Mustang's gloves for example, that's his transmutation circle, but Ed doesn't need one, that's why everyone is surprise the first time that they see him doing alchemy.

They’re picking up pretty well, actually, and I think the subtitles help. Not many reactors I’ve seen pick up on the “making a ring with your body” comment.

I don't even mind him dodging bullets since it's anime shit like that is kinda normal. But if all ten fire when she does then hes done. Just a bit of plot armor I guess.

Well, consider that Al is actually like 9 or 10 since he got stuck on time before he lost his body so I get that his voice is childish, with that being said, I don't like his voice in dub either 😔

Let's gooo! Very juicy episode and some thought-provoking lines here and there. I especially liked the scene where Alphonse lost his temper at Ed, he was spitting facts, and it is one of the first scenes that really made me appreciate his character. Up until now he has mostly been playing the part of the obedient little brother, so it was nice to see that he got absolutely furious at Ed for resigning himself to Scar - and not for selfish reasons because, like Ed, Al was also still thinking of their powerlessness in saving Nina. It's awesome to hear you guys talk about the characters and "the world" with the limited knowledge you have at this point. Keep it up!

Just a little fun fact for yall idk if you guys care but the va for Scar is the same for Erwin and the va for Armstrong is the same for Vegeta and Piccolo from dragon ball, but yes I am glad you guys are watching it in dub the team is well put in my opinion and I am not even a native english speaker. Love the reactions

Ed doesn’t need a circle because he did human transmutation and saw truth. Everyone else needs a circle and it’s either drawn out, tattooed, carved etc on something to make it more convenient.

they weren't shooting to kill for one, and for two it's really not easy to hit a moving target. Scar never dodged by reaction, he started moving before they shot, and when hawkeye caught him off-guard he got hit by the first bullet, and then barely dodged the next two bullets. He's exremely quick and I guess a bit lucky too, but he never moved faster than a bullet or reacted to a gunshot, just moved unpredictably. It didn't really break suspension of disbelief imo, especially since there's a lot of 'superhuman' stuff in the world of fma

yeah its like briefly explained in episode 2 but its explained more in-depth later on, specifically when they meet Ed's teacher.

There will be several scenes where the dub just doesn't do it justice. It's such a shame to make certain moments not hit as they are supposed to. Why is this show getting the short end of the stick every time? First it lost to HxH by a hair, and then after you guys decided to watch it, you make the experience worse with the dub... it's like this show is cursed on this channel.

Just here to say the ending song (Uso) is one of the most beautiful ending songs in anime. Hopefully you guys listen to it fully one day. Also way too hyped for HxH this week, lesgooooo

Disagree, plus I think it’s interesting that they’re trying their first full dub experience. Besides, its probably the only dub that even a significant chunk of the audience is ok with. I do think it would be cool for them to do a scene comparison between dub and sub at the end.

The dub is well done imo and I usually always prefer the sub. Don't get so pressed about it, if they're enjoying the experience that's all that matters. Just rewatch it yourself in sub if you really need to experience it again.

Hawkeye is the only one shooting because there are other friendlies near the line of fire, and she's an ace shooter under Mustang who is qualified to take initiative where as an average soldier would probably not be ordered to or allowed to fire with friendlies nearby.

This is not "explained" yet and this is a spoiler. They've not be shown that "truth" and his ability are connected and how, only hinted at. In hindsight if you've watched the show you can connect the dots but the show hasn't laid this out yet.

@nick I guess I need to rewatch because what I saw was a perfect firing line situation with scar being open to gunfire multiple times. Imo it is more likely just plot armor instead of an actual reason.

THEN Ed says “u can to CANT u?” And Al says no and then they show flashbacks of Ed seeing truth. And Ed says so u didn’t see it did u. I mean if that’s not obvious idk what is. It’s pretty much just your opinion and preference. Because if that were the case the dub wouldn’t be so popular. Im a person who usually chooses sub over dub and guess what I watched this show in dub and it’s still in my top 3 anime. I think they will still really enjoy the show. So everyone needs to seriously stop complaining about it.

Alphonse is voiced by an actual child, so I think it was wonderful casting. Different than how animes normally cast grown women to voice young boys.

Not in FMAB, he'svoiced by a woman in this one. He was voiced by a child in FMA but his voice had changed due to growing up by the time FMAB started, so they got a new VA who is a woman that made her voice sound like the original child VA. She did a pretty good job imo.
