"eren is just a variable in the plan" - legendary quote that will be "answered" soon

A few little details that you might have missed and that foreshadow this plot twist, back in S2 when the scouts were staying at "Utgard Castle" we saw the scouts finding certain items which had another language they were not familiar with written on them, Ymir found a can of what she said was "herring" and she was able to identify it instantly. Herring is also a sea water fish which they could not be able to get in the world "we know". In this scene we also saw Reiner exposing him self to Ymir which is why the scene was made so dramatic. They both revealed to each other that they were from the other civilization. Also back in S2, Ymir uses the word "Monkey" or in japanese "Kanji" referring to the beast titan. We then hear Eren repeating what Ymir said but he says "katakana" which shows us that he doesn't understand what she was talking about. Eren doesn't know what a monkey is but Ymir, Reiner and Bertholdt did. In S3 when the scouts return to Shiganshina, Armin sees 3 cups and a coffee grinder with "black liquid" as he called it because he couldn't identify it. Back in Reiner's flashback where we saw Marcel being eaten by Ymir we also saw a coffee grinder. The Beast Titan or Zeke uses baseball terms as we saw in the episode called "Perfect Game" which the humanity we know of have not even invented. Grisha was also easily able to cure the disease which spread inside the walIs as we saw in the flashback when Keith Shadis met Grisha. This shows us that the place Grisha comes from is way more advanced medically. Back in Ymir's flashback as well we see what looks like a more advanced civilization with more modern architecture than we know of. The soldiers also wear clothes much more advanced than the people in the walls. Basically the clues that there weren't only humans on the inside the walls were right in front of us the entire time. The foreshadowing is literally out of this world. - Copied comment

Also, no, Ymir isn't Ymir. That's not a spoiler also; they don't really go into it. The guy who found her just named her Ymir to fit his agenda of making her "royal" like the OG Ymir.

I liked your comment about how the past three seasons feel somewhat "diminished" now that you know the bigger story. I think that was the point, that every person's story is just a part of the whole, but that doesn't make it any less meaningful. Moving into S4 (which I hear you've already started), as the perspective shifts, I think we're meant to take away that every person's experience and story is equally important. And, that we ought to take a step back to see the bigger picture, rather than vilifying the "other".

Can someone please explain one thing to me I’m still confused about? Is Ymir Eldian? And if she’s not how come she was able to transform into a Titan? It’s stated that only Eldians can turn into titans.

Hard to believe that eldians were able to decimate other nations for centuries upon centuries with the power of their titans, and yet these other countries are still able to advance and develop technology that can bring the age of titans to an end. With Eldia dominating other nations for that long, they never should have been able to make it out of the dark ages.

i think why the nape is still the weak spot even if there's no real human there with regular titans, is because thats probably the main spinal cord weak spot aswell
