They really planned this season so well to replicate the magic of episode 6 (of course, episode 6 of season 2 is legendary!!)...also, I have the same theory as Cannon as to why titans consume humans - it may be a subconscious hope of turning back into a human.

I don't think they flatout confirm Cannon's theory but it's heavily implied that's the reason why titans eat people. Back in season 1 they tell the cadets that titans ignore animals and only attack humans. Also after Trost they state that titans don't have a digestive system and throw up the people they've eaten, they don't need to eat to stay alive. Ymir says she felt like she was dreaming the entire time she was a titan, so she didn't know the specifics what she was doing for 60 years. Titans have an instinct of eating people to revert back.

I think the content of the arc isn't living up with his expectations from the comments, which makes sense. This is personally my least favorite part of the show (not to say it's bad, just not as good as the rest). The pacing can be a bit odd, and the dialogue seems slightly off sometimes. The amount of crazy stuff they introduce is a little overwhelming too. I think this arc is much better on re-watch. I'm sure he'll love some of the upcoming moments, and ESPECIALLY love season 3 part 2 (my favorite part).

From a lot of personal experience, editing can be exhausting. Especially when dealing with hours of footage that needs to be revised over and over for copyright. I hope he can find a good workflow for the sake of his sanity.

Eren actually did question where his father was a couple of times. Back when he saved mikasa and armin from that canon he had a flashback and immediately thought of his father being MIA. You also have to remember that after cadet training seasons 1 2 and 3 take place in the span of like 4 months lol so it's not like a crazy amount of time has passed to say it's a plot hole

Hey guys thanks so much for the concern. This is carter btw. Tbh its a mix of both but mostly the arc. Youll see in the next video i kinda blow up in the end lol. As you guys have seen, I frikkin love this show so far. Like it actually has to potential to be amongst my favorites of all time. And this arc while it is very important and I know with hindsight I will absolutely like it more, in my personal opinion feels kind of placed really weirdly in the timeline of the show. Like its such a 180 turn from the momentum it had before. And also I have no problem with lore episodes and i love slow burns, but the placement of this arc just had me super disappointed. BUT I have since gotten over it and I know this show is so smart that everything has a purpose! I will always give every detail of the show the benefit of the doubt until the very end.

Personally this arc isn't really my favorite but I appreciate the fact that it gives a lot of information. I seriously can't WAIT for y'all's reaction to the second part of this season, it has one of the best (some might agree that it's THE best) arcs of not only AoT but all of anime!!

pretty much everyone I've talked to has felt the same about s3p1, but on rewatch when you know to expect the change you'll really appreciate all the mindgames and small details that go into every single event that happens, really amazing writing honestly. The information dumps are overwhelming, but sometimes I feel like they do that intentionally, they've given away soooo much information and answered so many questions but on a first watch it's really hard to catch it all and I think that was their intention. Like when Eren sees that memory, he knows exactly what it means, but the anime doesn't go out of it's way to also explain it to the viewer, instead it gives you that small piece, then later gives another piece, and eventually you start getting the full picture pieced together. Trust the process

I know y’all are already way past this, but we already know that ODM can pierce Titan hardening. Scouts have hooked into Reiner’s armor, and they’ve hooked on to the wall which we know is also Titan hardening. A sword can’t damage it because swords cut and rely on the sharpness of their edge, which the hardening dulls. But bullets and ODM pierce rather than cut, and rely on force rather than sharpness, so they can penetrate hardening.

Like for the YouTube videos he adds memes and do zoom in or mono colour scene to highlight some reactions kinda thing. Really hope he could find a full time editor that can satisfy him and help him out with the editing burden

This is one my least favourite arcs of the show, but all of them are great to begin with. I usually jump to the good parts if I plan on re-watching with a new group of reactors. It's a bit slower paced, but the setup and lore building really pays off. Plus, you can also take into account that you're watching the season back-to-back, whereas many of us had to wait a little more than a year for the start of season 3. This arc was unexpected, but a little refreshing, as we dive deeper politics and motives of those inside the walls.

So I think Brig is a little confused about what the underground chapel is made out of. It's my understanding that although it is created via titan powers, it's not specifically titan hardening. Since the group is past ep 13, the material of that cave is shown to be used as light sources for homes and handheld lanterns. Also, as others have pointed out, not all titan hardening is created equal. Annie's hardening is different than Reiner's and they're both different than the crystal cocoon Annie created in 1x25. Each have different properties.
