All right, this is a bit of a specific post, concerning one of my favorite game babes, Asuka Kazama. The Peacemaker from Osaka has had a variety of looks throughout the series, and arguably she looked her best for me in Tekken 6, where she first got an actually lifelike/unique face, as opposed to the somewhat cartoony, less defined look in her debut during Tekken 5. She's changed quite a bit since then, and it was with some slight disappointment when I first saw her in Tekken 7. She was definitely made a lot more cutesy, with BIG anime-like eyes, but she also lost a bit of edge, the steel in her eyes. Yeah, Tekken 7 Asuka looked kinda like an airhead. I eventually warmed up to her, but deep inside I was never really satisfied.

That was eventually remedied a bit with a mod called TTT2 Character Redesigns by MattPlara, a pretty old Tekken 7 mod which did what it said on the tin- it gave the characters new looks, new faces, based on their Tekken Tag 2 appearances. Asuka definitely benefited, getting a very different look from the default Tekken 7 character model's face. The initial version I tried wasn't very good, but several months ago I found that there was another version, Update 2, which fixed issues that I had with the earlier version. That was the Asuka that I was using for the past three months.

Fast forward to this week, and I discovered that there was another version of the mod- Update 1 (which strangely makes it older than the previous versions I had tried), and I checked it out and, whoa! I think that this version- Update 1 Asuka- is the best she's looked in the game so far. Her eyes I think convey a lot more of the toughness and determination I've come to expect of this character, and overall she's just objectively prettier and more refined than the previous version we've been using. In short, I think we've found our 'real' Asuka.

And so, after this week's video where Asuka got served a KO, the next time we see her I'll be switching to this new/old version of Miss Kazama. For now, check out the screens from this impromptu photo shoot we had with her. I am looking forward to all the KOs she'll be dishing out and taking in the near future (lots of KO Endings to do), and I hope you all too.
