It's true that they changed the length of his imprisonment. IIRC, in the comic he was imprisoned in 1917, and it takes place in 1987 when he's released (70 years). In the show, they didn't want to go retro with 1987 and wanted it to be set in the current time (2021 I think), but his imprisonment is hard to move from 1917 because of the contextual beats of both WWI and the popularity of hermetic magic in English society of the time. Thus, in the show he's imprisoned for 104 years. It is mentioned in passing in the first episode that the vestments gave the Burgesses extended life, so perhaps that's and excuse, though admittedly it's tough to swallow that Alex was, what, 115, maybe 120 years old at the end. Plot hole or not, I think you'll find it ends up not being terribly important.
