On this month's Animation Damnation, the guys are chatting about the abysmally animated Transformers spin-off, Beast Wars

The episode covered, "Double Dinobot," which originally aired back on November 5, 1996, raises certain questions like: Why do the Maximals appear to live in that barren, poorly animated landscape? Were we supposed to throw up every time Rattrap was on screen? And should we have allowed these companies to make cartoons with sub-Nintendo 64 animation that felt dated before the show even aired?

This was called BEASTIES in Canada. LOVED that title when I was a kid, WAY better than Beast Wars. Every nerd boy in my class had the toys including myself. And the spiders one scared the shit out of me as kid 😂

Loved Beast Wars when I was a kid! If you want full context on why things are the way they are in the show I can give it to you but I think it’s a lot funnier that you don’t know.

Not enough Brooklyn in this cartoon :(

Came for the AD, stayed for the TOTK sidetrack

Beast Wars is the TNG of Transformers but like TNG the first season is uh. . . Well you saw

Oh Also Megatron and Dinobot ate heavily implied to have been a couple. Megs is obsessed with him over the course of the series

Loved Beast Wars as a kid. It gets wild and so much character death.

This was the only Transformers I ever watched, and as a dumb 11 year-old, I fucking loved it. But the first season is terrible. Later eps had some interesting moral questions (my Animorphs-reading, my-heroes-commit-warcrimes-and-it's-complex ass was fascinated), and god, but I loved Cheetor. Yeah, the dumbass cat. I also was convinced that Rattrap and Dinobot were going to end up in love, because my young lesbian heart was desperate to see gayness. Would I watch any of it now? Aw FUCK no. Nope. Love the characters, fond memories, never touching it again.

This episode inspired me to read the Wikipedia article on this show(never go to the actual Transformers wiki it is a terrifying nightmare), and, my dudes, you NEED to look into doing more of this show. It gets fucking nuts on a level that is hard to imagine from a kids show. I don't want to spoil anything but I am 100% sure you guys would enjoy talking about it even if it wasn't for the show.

Code of hero is the best episode of any transformers series.

I hope the rights issues can get untangled so we can get a home release of robots in disguise 2001.

Oh my god I was wrong it was earth all along!

Good thing everything I liked as a kid still holds up.

Watching this episode on a YouTube channel that's upscaled it to 4K..forgot how barren the setting of this show was.
