On this month’s globetrotting W❤️M, the guys are chatting about the wildly good adventure sequel, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade! Is River Phoenix’s haircut period appropriate? Did Marcus Brody get brain damage in Venice? And how in the world did they not immediately see that X on the library floor? PLUS: Indy and Elsa go on House Hunters International!

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade stars Harrison Ford, Sean Connery, Denholm Elliot, Alison Doody, John Rhys-Davies, Julian Glover, Michael Byrne, Dakota St. Croix, Robert Eddison, and River Phoenix as Young Indy; directed by Steven Spielberg.

Thank you, WHM: this will be the perfect "pre-gamer" to listen to heading into the new film later this month. Thanks for this new content & hope it was safe travels back after the incredible West Coast tour -- as I attended both shows!

Outstanding stuff guys. This was a real Christmas Day movie for me growing up, as the BBC I think had only this, Santa Claus The Movie and ET to show on that particular day

Lance Stein

My favorite Indy movie hell yes! I’m a sucker for anything Connery. Love those impressions.

Ahh the origin of "Ladyslap" 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

At 17:47 when Andrew promises “no regicide” Steve and Chris were noticeably silent

Alexander Farr

This was my listener request month request for a few years! Yay!

On the subject of the rats, when I was a kid my grandad's next door neighbour was a rat wrangler for some films here in the UK. Unfortunately I don't know much about him, but I'll have to ask my family for some stories.

Joe Cooley

As recently as ten years ago, the Ringling Bros circus still travelled by train. I worked at a bank near some train tracks and one day we saw the B and B Circus train going by.

Just what I needed to roll into my weekend with, been a long one. Saw it in the theater (I was 9), and probably my most re-watched Indy movie. Thanks guys!

Paul

May even be better than “Raiders” 🤔

Brendan Kneeland

“Nein, none mores!” You didn’t tell us you spoke German, Steve! 😂

Satellite Thievery Nations is a great band name

"Wildly good" don't strain yourselves...

Steve: you're not really an adventurer though Andrew: that's true, I do like to stay at home a lot Thos made bust out laughing in the middle of donating blood

The university’s budget has to be spent on new desks and the collective puddles under every chair. Damnit Indy. Loved this and your takes as always are spot on.

Shariq

This was one of your best episodes! Even when it is a movie that you all love very much, you all still have an ability to get good jokes in. I especially loved Panama Hat calling Fedora if they had lived the boat explosion. “Man, that kid we took the cross from took your whole thing. Its so fucking weird” 😂😂

Tim O'Connor

Haters gonna hate, this is one of the most entertaining movies ever made

Beatrix

I love this movie. I grew up watching Temple of Doom the most and though I do love that movie too, watching it with modern eyes does provide quite a bit of perspective, so Last Crusade is my “safe” favorite of the Indy franchise. Perhaps even my favorite Connery movie as well! I dunno.

Michael

This is an all-time episode.

Great show and great movie. I wonder what you all (the guys and the patrons) think of a Henry Jones and… trilogy. Imagine it: instead of old-ass Harrison Ford hanging out with hippies or whatever, you’ve got a young vaguely Scottish man on a series of side-quests in his life long search for the Grail, against the background of the Great War, or the Raj, or whatever else was going on at the time. I know what you’re thinking, Henry Jones sr doesn’t like violence. Well, that’s why he’s a Maguyver type. Or better yet, he swears off violence once it occurs to him that the Christian God is real (unlike Indy). You could probably get James Mcavoy to do it.

Re-watching this and I realized that the circus train had a giraffe car with their heads sticking out and all I was thinking was...hope they dont hit a tunnel

Indiana Jones and the book worm, Worming around in literature baging elle mcpherson made me cry laughing

"Where does he get the barrel roll from?" Muslims kneel in a different way, so the vertical blade is supposed to behead anyone who kneels that way as well. Roll was maybe unnecessary, but it's a cool little detail.

Have to love the ancient engineering that went on in this fictional world. We got rolling boulders and collapsible temples in the first. A slowly dropping ceiling (with retractable spikes!) in the second. And of course parkour blades and dropping tile floors in the third. I don't remember Crystal at all, except for 'fridge Indy', was there something in it besides alien junk. After all this the ancient engineers must have went to Oak Island next. Gotta protect that Templar gold damnit.

Crystal Skull has an elaborate hidden passage that leads to the conquistador mummies. And the alien chamber is hidden inside a ziggurat that uses sand as a counterweight to hide it. Unclear how someone could ever reset it. Haha.
