On this month's Animation Damnation, the guys have a wild conversation about an abysmal episode of Disney's TailSpin

Originally airing back on October 16, 1990, the episode in question, "Last Horizons," features some truly awful stuff like panda characters with "Fu Manchu" mustaches, Baloo definitely flying drunk and being verbally abusive while intoxicated, a ton of pro-war insanity, and the most offensive element of all: a little kid stowaway character! Yeah, makes sense that Disney+ scrubbed this one!

Cheers? I'm thinking Steve is forgetting about The Tales of the Golden Monkey, and, more importantly, the holds-up-pretty-damn-well 1939 movie Only Angels Have Wings, by Howard Hawks, starring Cary Grant. I liked Tale Spin growing up, but when I first saw that move, I was stunned at just how much it clearly inspired this cartoon from my childhood. As for this episode, it's just sad the creators didn't learn the lesson from OAHW's contemporary, Lost Horizon: a good story can be ruined by bad character depictions i.e. yellowface, white savior. I still like that movie too, but it's not one I could easily recommend to others.

The Disney Afternoon had a habit of anti-Asian racism (I saw quite a bit of it in the Rescue Rangers cartoon).

Damn, I was going to call out 'Tales of the Gold Monkey'. Loved that show along with the original 'Battlestar' and the Schoolhouse Rock version of 'Sliders'...'Voyagers!'

Andrew, there actually is an episode where Baloo starts an airplane wash. Lol

Since we're talking about Winston Churchill's bathing suits, we shouldn't overlook that pic of him in an old-timey one-piece that presumably did a great job of not flying off, but a bad job of leaving anything to the imagination.

The rooster in the cartoon Robin Hood is a sleeper hottie. Like everyone talks about Fox Robin Hood but that Rooster can get it!
