On this month's edition of The Nexus, the episodes couldn't be farther apart as we chat about two Trek shows of very differing quality!

First on TOS, it's the return of intergalactic scumbag, Harry Mudd in, "I, Mudd"! Originally airing on November 3rd, 1967, this episode features classic Trek elements like an army of sex robots, Kirk & Co. losing control of the ship at a frightening speed, and Uhura considering putting her consciousness into a robot body in order to live forever!

Then on TNG, it's one of the all-time biggest flops, "The Royale"! First gracing the airwaves on March 25th, 1989, this turkey features low-lights such as an extended sequence of Data learning to play Blackjack; a dumbass love triangle between a hotel bellhop, an unseen woman, and the mafia; and three decorated Starfleet officers getting fooled by a revolving door!

PLUS: When in doubt, gamble your way out!

The Nexus is a We Hate Movies podcast where the guys futilely go through two Star Trek series at the same time. Thank you so much for continuing to support this weird thing known as WHM! We couldn't do it without you!

Kirk: Mudd, I want full control of my ship restored, and have two of those femmebots beamed up to my quarters immediately. McCoy: Jim, uh... Kirk: Okay, make that three.

As for Rainn Wilson as Mudd in Discovery: not bad. You guys should watch that show, season 2 gets really good

The real evidence of just how much that TNG episode was despised lies in the first Nexus episode featuring Mudd. Good old Harry was the main reason that episode got panned across the board. I agree with the gang though, The Royal is a bunch of interesting ideas that are completely wasted. However, I am giddily excited for next month. When I watched this show in syndication 'Masks' was one of my favorites. Hope it holds up.

I actually really like this episode of tng. I liked the idea that it was a bad novel. It does seem like a Dr. Who episode though. If aliens had to invent a world based on what you guys were currently watching, chances are you’d be stuck in a bad plotline too. Imagine living out the rest of your years stuck in The Seven Sons or something!

No, it wasn't that the guy couldn't figure out how to leave, necessarily, it's that even if he did there was nowhere he could go.

I guess if Worf was trapped in that casino, he would commit suicide by Texan?

Harvey Mudd is a college in California lol
