Hey Folks,

We are gearing up production for a whole host of stuff before we take our August break and we need your help on choosing the next Full Length Movie Review Nexus episode for We ❤️ Movies Month in November! There's a lot to choose from so see below and Vote! Oh, and yes, we did do Star Trek IV as a live episode in San Franscisco, but it was recorded terribly and is lost forever! Similarly, we figured we've only covered Star Trek: Nemesis as a Commentary a million years ago, so it might be fun to revisit as an actual Episode. The choice is yours below! What do you want to hear in November?

PLEASE NOTE: This November Nexus, while happening during We ❤️ Movies Month, doesn't necessarily need to have a We ❤️ Movies-caliber Trek film as the selection. We just want to cover all the Star Trek films in the franchise, and this space allows us the opportunity to do that. So vote for one of the great ones, or vote for one of the shitty ones— we don't care, we just wanna talk Trek!

Josh

Please do a second take on star trek 4!

Felipe Sobreiro

The Undiscovered Country is my personal favorite of the TOS movies (sure, Wrath of Khan is also great but VI holds a special place in my heart)

Busiris

We're spoiled for choice here but I think I'd love to see you guys dip back into the recent trilogy for sure.

Lee Jones

Nemesis all the way it's bad.

Cody

Need In To darkness !!!!?

Depression_Bard

I got to see the Star Trek IV live show in San Francisco and it was all-time great. I would love to hear another shot at it.

Craig Ainsworth

Undiscovered Country was the first Trek movie I saw and it still holds up so it's got my vote.

Howard Fienberg

Nemesis cannot be a WLM, sorry. What a horror show.

Kemper

I'm hoping you do 4 and then Undiscovered Country later so you'll have eps on all the TOS ones.

Seth Busino

Whale Trek! Whale Trek!

Britt W

I feel like the only person in the world that loves Nemesis 😂😂

Felipe Sobreiro

There's an honest to goodness PRISON PLANET in that movie... "Uuuuhh folks, I've been sent to Rura Penthe. The Federation Cabal has finally gotten to me"

Tom Prentice

Of course, when Old Shakes talked about the Undiscovered Country he meant Death, not the Future.

Nathan

Which would lead to a great riff in Picard impressions

Drew Stewart

I think the second take on 4 should wait at least a year, personally, which is why I’m going for 6.

Michael Daniels

Star Trek IV has space whales and bus punks, I'm sold

James C Harris

I went Star Trek 6. You guys having done Voyage Home recently, maybe wait a few years before tackling it again

Frank Grimes

I initially voted nemesis but saw its a we love movies....nemesis is horrid. It does deserve an episode but not a WLM episode lol.

Thomas Adams

Voyage Home forever

Gavin

Voyage Home crew 4 life! It sucks the original recording was lost, but having experienced y'all retreading familiar around multiple times, I have every Faith you'll have fun and make it engaging

Bryce Zubriski

Glad I read your comment. My eyes glazed over that this would be a WLM instead of a WHM. Had to change my vote. Nemesis and Into Darkness are WHM’s all the way.

CharlesGrodin'sToupee

Gotta have a do over of IV before VI. Nemesis and Into Darkness deserve to be on the Hate feed, where they belong.

Christopher Hainsworth

I think you should do IV or go back in time and murder the tech who screwed up the live recording.

Les Whinen

I think its about time Star Trek XII : So Very Tired got an episode.

Brandon Ford

Hard agree. Nemesis should not be within a thousand yards of the L feed.

Dave

It's a tossup between IV and VI for me, either way I know I'm gonna be craving Bones' love of the greatest radio hits of the Earth 1990s by that point

andy

Double dumbass on anyone who doesn’t vote Voyage Home

Liz Self

Agreed, I would love a Galaxy Quest WLM at some point!!

Amanda and Daniel Pietsch

Gang, we were at your SF show and had a blast. So sad the recoding didn’t work out but hoping for a take 2!

wehatemovies

It's during We Love Movies month, but it doesn't necessarily mean that the Trek flick is a WLM. We just wanna do all the Trek films and this allows us that space, so vote with your heart, Frank! - Andrew

Andrew Dean

You just finished TOS, so its time to cover the Undiscovered Country, the perfect farewell to the TOS cast

wehatemovies

Well, the Voyage Home show in SF that was lost was in May of 2023, so by July 2024 when we would record it, looks like we'll be good to go, Drew! - Andrew

Felix Forrester

I only voted Nemesis because I love hearing you people suffer

jscro

IV & VI are both good and I'd love to hear you talk about them but I'm going with Into Darkness which I think is really interesting and one of the ST movies that is least talked about.

Daniel Garcia

I voted Into Darkness because it's Starfleet at its most fascist and the biggest wasted potential since Nemesis.

Mark Ibarra

Khan should have been a fakeout. Bandersnatch could have been an imposter with the real Khan dead or elsewhere. But Abrams gonna Abrams.

Todd B

I love both for similar, but different reasons. More than any other entries, these were the two Trek movies that seemed like the people making them looked and realized "We're making a movie here. We don't have to abide by all the rules and limitations the TV show put on us." As a result, they're the two stories that feel like they really made a good effort to explore that freedom. Wrath of Khan gave us a story where the 'everything goes back to the way it was' rules of television were lifted. The Enterprise took genuine, lasting damage. Deaths weren't simple disintegrations or actors slumping over bloodlessly (and credit to Meyer, after all the jokes about dead red shirts, there's few Trek moments that hit quite the gut punch of Scotty's nephew effectively asking Kirk for permission to die while his uncle watches on the verge of tears - complete with his blood staining Kirk's uniform for the rest of the movie.) And the normally unflappable, unbeatable, James Kirk finally had to come face to face with a scenario he couldn't bluff or charm is way out of and had to learn to process genuine defeat. That ending set the course that really changed where the subsequent movies went, both in the long journey to get back to 'normal' and how Spock's death changed his character. Which brings to The Undiscovered Country - a movie where they realized this was basically the curtain call for the TOS crew as TNG was on the rise. Rather than send them off with just another mission, we get a story that explores the idea of not just the end of their voyage, but of the world they helped pioneer and explore with the end of hostilities with the Klingons. Like WoK, hitting that great balance of sci-fi action set pieces (albeit with more political thriller this time out) and genuine exploration of these characters freed from the static confines of television serialization, all topped off with great supporting performances by Christopher Plummer and David Warner. I appreciate that we got one last hurrah from Kirk in Generations, but it could have just ended here and it would have still been a perfect ending to his, and the crew's journey. ...so yeah. Definitely voting TUC for this one.

Jamie

Into Darkness is my fav 🤞🤞🤞

Rhea

I voted VI but IV would be great too, as long as I get to watch old Kirk and Spock be gay in preparation

Toronto Will

IV and VI are WLM. Nemesis and Into Darkness are WHM. I rewatched Nemesis for the first time in a long time recently, and still have some bubbling rage about how bad it is. So that was my vote for selfish reasons.

Tom Mann

Been rockin with these guys since 2015 they are PRETTY DAMN JOKES

Michael Colon

I just want to hear the guys calling each other "double dumbasses"

Tim O'Connor

I know Wrath of Khan is the best one, but Undiscovered Country is my *favorite* one. It's a real Empire Strikes Back / Return of the Jedi situation.

Tim O'Connor

Uhura's impatience and annoyance at having to figure out the mystery of the gravity boots might be the funniest acting that Nichelle Nichols gets to do in the entire series.

Julien Schwab

I was at that Voyage Home live show in SF. It was just so damn good they should just run it back!

SomeBloke

Had to vote for secret second best film in the entire franchise Star Trek VI.

Craig

Hmmm, IV and VI neck and neck. I’d be happy with either but I think VI might be my favourite of all the Trek movies so I’m voting for that.

Lunar_Prodigy

time for those last place voters to re-vote for one of the top two

Felipe Sobreiro

How petty do you have to be to see this poll and still waste your vote in Nemesis?

Smaug

Oh I'll be happy with either of the front-runners

Clint Rivas

Into Darkness is definitely one of the worst

Felix Forrester

Damn I didn't think I'd get this outbid. C'mon don't you want to make the guys suffer through Nemesis??
