Blake Belladonna had trouble sleeping in recent days. Her dreams always rebounded to that awful day when Beacon fell, specifically that eternal moment where Yang, her trusted partner, got grievously wounded by Adam because of her.

The words of her deranged ex repeated themselves in those nightmares. Nothing around her family’s manor put her mind at east; not her favorite tea, not her favorite novels, nothing!

It was her fault…her fault Yang was hurt. ‘That’s why you had to leave her. Adam was going to kill her to get at you.’ the pained voice in her head repeated the words she told herself to justify those actions.

She…wanted-needed Yang. Her sunny dragon that brought light to her darkness, the one who tore down the walls she put around herself, the one she would groom…

Blake’s face quickly turned red as the memories of their ‘grooming’ seasons came rushing. It began Yang’s awful cat puns when her size 10 foot dangled from her bunk bed. They were alone and decided to humor her partner by ‘grooming’ her. Than there was the time Yang wore fake cat ears to return the favor. After that-

There was a knock at the front door, mercifully interrupting her before she fell into the pit of her lewd memories.

It was none other than Yang Xiao Long.

How her day suddenly got brighter.

After the meet-and-greet with her folks, the Belladonna parents sensed that the two wanted to be alone. As happy as she was to see her, Blake would have figured she’d be one of the last people Yang would want to see, blaming her for her injuries, and reunite with her sister instead.

Her partner elaborated that she first sought Raven out for her semblance. She knew her uncle Qrow was with Ruby and that her estranged mother could teleport her to him. But Raven remained as elusive as always, leaving no trace at her last known location.

Out of any other leads and despite her own conflicting feelings ever since the Fall of Beacon, Yang ventured to Menagerie. It was rather bold of her considering how many of the island’s residents felt about humans, not that it bothered her. Besides she figured Menagerie would be the one place Adam wouldn’t attempt anything. Wouldn’t try to hurt them.

But Yang admitted she’d be lying to herself if seeing Blake again wasn’t one of the main reasons. Her heart skipped a beat, she felt the same.

Their feet incidentally made contact as they moved closer. Or rather, Blake’s barefoot made contact with Yang’s booted feet. How was she not boiling in those thick combat boots of hers? In no time at all, Yang was stripped of her footwear.

Here they were, together in private with bare feet in the other’s hands just like Beacon…

‘So is this the part where you ‘groom’ me kitty cat?’

Gosh how she missed Yang’s teasing. Her big, meaty feet were sweaty from being confined to those stuffy combat boots for a while. They were, indeed, in dire need of grooming.
