In this episode Star raids Ludo's cave in order to save Glossaryck and in the second half of the episode Star and Marco go to a birthday party where bizarre things ensue.

--I think Marco was off that episode for not as good writing of him, but also because the joy was being sucked out of him. I think at least that was why he made that unexpected love comment. --OR, he was maybe written this way here to prioritize something else in the show that is yet to be seen and is a part of something bigger. I also think in this part of the show, they were experimenting with Star being a little off with how the more stressed she got, the more it showed her darker parts and leaving it ambiguous to where that could go or mean in the story. --Spying, being more stubborn, denying and avoiding stress about problems by focusing on another problem and creating something to fix, ruining a birthday party to be right. --I think she's low key feeling alone and not feeling like everything is still in the place that she wants things to be and that everyone is not caring enough or breaking from the normal she got used to with them. --Marco, Gloassaryk, and now her parents. Like Gloassaryk implied, this is her time to figure out what to do with herself on her own and figure out what she can really do when she can't get the help, predictability or attention she wants from others. --Will she keep being like this? What kind of person will Star be when things aren't going her way? What's her magic 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 to get by, that will help with what's keeping her anxious? It's her turn to change too and what is Star going to do about herself and the change in circumstances? --It seems like everyone is on season 2 and she's still thinking it's going to be like season 1 and is slowly realizing it's not. She's trying her best, but she's currently being negative about the changes, like the wand sometimes going dark. Seems like it's not the only one that needs a tune up/upgrade.
