Let's lock down a design but first, let's talk a little bit about what makes a Candy Girl feel like Candy.

1: Softness- No sharp edges. Pokemon have this same design principle, there are no sharp points on a Pokemon design so that they look more less threatening. Candy Girls have this same principle. Everything but their elashes are soft so that they look like something squishy and jiggly you'd want to cuddle up with (hehehe).

2: Color- The color has to be appetizing and close to the color of the sweet they are based on. Did you know that colors can make you hungry? Check out fast food restaurant signs. They are all red, orange, yellow etc. because studies show that warm colors make people feel hungry . Blues and purples not so much but that's not the case in every situation (White Castle, IHOP, etc.). Usually,  bright colors don't look appetizing so I try to use soft pastel colors to give a lickable appearance (hehehe).

3: Shine- Not all Candy Girls are shiny but putting a shine on something can give it a glossy, wet look that can be really appetizing looking.

I used colors based on the dessert but I also thought about what colors I don't use that often to make her stand out. I don't use yellow much and felt like it made her hair feel blonde so I went with that. And we sketch out the hard design, we clean it up in a vector program (Adobe Animate in this case), fill it with color, apply shadows and bam! GEL-O Shot is born!

There is no step by step instructions on this stuff, you will always end up freestyling or experimenting and sometimes you'll nail it while other times you fail. But remember that it's YOUR design and you can always go back and try again if you're not happy with it.

Thank you for joining my class and sticking it out to the end! There will be more Candy Content coming your way soon! Enjoy the rest of your day and fold up the chairs on your way out!

*raises hand* excuse me, professor Roninsong! This may be a funny question to ask in the design class but is there a lore explanation as to how the candy girls fuse?
