Chapter 74: Four Emperors

Luffy woke up screaming in pain.

“Ow! ouch!”

Sanji was surprised since their captain shrugged off much worse things in the past.

“Luffy, what's wrong? is just a punch, it wouldn't hurt your rubber body”

Garp laughed. “No one can escape the ‘fist of love’. I heard that you have been doing some outrageous things, Luffy.”

“Geh…” Luffy turned to see his attacker and his face went pale. “Grampa?!”

“Is he really his grandpa?” Asked Chopper.

“It seems that way. Luffy never talks about his family.” Said Nami.

“Of course is his grandpa. They have the same last name and He is quite famous. Monkey.D Garp, the hero of the marines.” Answered Vivi.

“Luffy... Don't you owe me an apology?” Asked Garp.

“So…He really is your grandpa.” Said Sanji.

“Yep… don't mess with him… you'll get killed!” Said Luffy with a warning tone.

“I was nearly killed by him many times in the past!”

Garp made an angry face. “Hey!, don't say those scandalous things. I may have pushed you over a bottomless cliff, thrown you into dangerous jungles, or tied you on a ballon and send you into the sky…but all those things were done in order to make you a strong man!”

“That's why Luffy is so weird!”  Exclaimed Sanji.

“That explains so much…” Muttered Nami.

“In the end, I entrusted him to a friend of mine to be raised next to Ace. But when I took my eyes off him for a while, this happened…I trained you to become a strong marine, and you went and turned into a pirate!” Shouted Garp.

“I always said I wanted to be a pirate!” Defended Luffy.

“Nonsense!, this was caused by the bad influence of that ‘red-haired’ pirate!”

“Shanks saved my life, I won't let you speak badly of him!” Yelled Luffy.

Garp grabbed Luffy. “Are you telling your grandpa what to do?!”

“Ahhh, I'm sorry!” Luffy closed his eyes.

“Wow…He doesn't even fight back against his grandpa.” Sanji pointed out.

“Oh no! Luffy has been captured by a marine!” Chopper panicked.

“Luffy!” Cried Nami.

The next moment, they both fell asleep.

“What the hell!.” The crew exclaimed.

“ They fell asleep?...just like that?” Said Franky.

“What do we do?!” Asked Chopper.

Garp then woke up. “Ohh crap!. I fell asleep…” He then looked at Luffy and his expression turned to anger.

“Wake up” He punched Luffy awake again. “How dare you doze off when Im scolding you!”

Vivi could not help but laugh. “Those two could make a great comedic duo!”

After things calmed down, Luffy was once more covered in bruises.

“That hurts!” He complained.

“Do you even know what kind of guy that ‘Red hair’ is?” Asked Garp.

“Shanks? Why, have you seen him? Are they doing fine?” Luffy wanted to know.

“Who cares if He is fine?!...look, there are many pirates out there. But of all the pirate crews, there are four that stand out as the strongest ones, like the White bear pirates. We call those the ‘Yonko (Four Emperors)’.”

“Four Emperors?... I think I read about those.” Said Sanji.

Garp continued. “The Marine and the Shichibukai (Seven Warlords) exist in order to counter-balance those four. Their power is so influential that if one of those three powers became unbalanced, the peace of the world will crumble.”

“I don't really understand it, but I'm happy to hear that Shanks is doing fine,” Luffy said nonchalantly.

Vivi got in front of him.

“Luffy. This is important and if you want to become the King of the Pirates one day you need to understand who the higher powers in the world are. Because the only way to become the King is to overcome them all.”

“Oi!, don't tell my grandson to overcome the marines! And what is this about becoming the King of the Pirates?” Said Garp.

“I will become the King of the Pirates, grandpa!.” Said Luffy to Garp. He then looked at Vivi.

“So you are saying that I will have to fight those four guys? that's no problem!”

“Those ‘four guys’ are the ones who are the closest to becoming Pirate King. If you want to take that title for yourself, they will probably get in our way at some point.”

Vivi rose one finger. “The Whitebeard Pirates, the crew that your brother is part of.”

Two fingers “Big Mom.”

Three fingers “Kaido of the beasts.”

Four fingers “and finally, Red Hair Shanks”

Luffy then realized something.“I have to beat Shanks to become the Pirate King?...”

“Only if He wants to stop you from becoming King. It may not come to that. And there is still a long time before we are ready to face those people. Don't worry about it now, Captain. But keep it in mind.”

Luffy nodded. “Okay, I will.” He said with an unusually serious face.

“You!, runaway Princess! Don't fill my grandson's head with that garbage about becoming Pirate King!” Garp got in front of Vivi.

The other Strawhats got worried, but Vivi was calm, she knew Garp's personality better than they did.

“I did not do such a thing! Luffy had those ideas way before I met him.” Said Vivi, looking up at Garp.

“She is right. He was already saying that when I met him back in the East Blue!.” Added Nami.

“Right!” Confirmed Sanji.

Garp sighed. “It must have been that red-headed bastard again…”

They then heard a commotion occurring outside. The marine squad stationed outside the Galley-La building was fighting someone.

“What's going on out there?“ Asked Garp.

“The the Pirate Hunter Zoro, Sir!.” A marine captain answered.

“I see…another one of my grandson's friends. Well…you guys wanna try stopping him? Garp asked the two young men who have been waiting right outside the room.
