Hell yes double drop can’t wait for ep 6 and 7

Jerry Ferrell

They said that the south lost their way during the hundred year war, so I’m assuming that they were spiritually connected prior to the fire nation raids. Also, Korra’s father is the chief of the southern tribe.

King Abydos

He actually isn't chief, The Southern Water tribe is a colony of the North and has no actual chief. They had elected "Chiefs" Like Sokka but Korras dad isn't chief

Its sad about the Bolin hate. It's not his fault, its the writer's fault. Season 1 had a perfect balance of comedic and seriousness in Bolin, but Season 2 just like with all the teenagers, Bolin's character development went down. They made him act like he has not one serious bone in his body.

As I'm ranting, know that the producers didn't expect more the one season for the show. To rectify all the character development Korra went through in season 1, they made her a spoiled brat that thinks she should know everyone's past and thinks people are trying to hide things from her. Mako went from someone who has his own opinion to Korra's whipping boy, and Bolin what i said in last comment.

Tonraq(Korra's father) was a prince in the Northern Tribe, when he was banished and he moved to the Southern Tribe but he only became an ordinary citizen.

Totally agree that the delivery of the back story of the Southern Water Tribe could've been better. Though I would say that Johnny has a point that Tonraq's back story was the main focus of the campfire discussion is that Unalaq clearly is trying to diss Tonraq any chance he gets. (I think Tonraq's back story was brought up with the narrative as to why spirits were following them...though he's not the reason why spirits are in unrest in the South overall. Think about the state of the Southern Water Tribe from the first episode of Avatar: TLA. The only thing remaining of the village was a child's snow fort, pretty much. After the Air Nomad genocide, the Southern Water Tribe was the biggest victim of the 100 year war. The tribe was stuck in survival mode longer than the other remaining nations. Being able to pass on spiritual customs across generations was probably too much a luxury to maintain. Not to mention they almost rid the tribe of all waterbenders. Benders seem to be the more likely individuals to have the strongest spiritual connections, no? After the 100 year war. They had a chance to recover. Given how much of their past was lost, all they had going was modernization. Meanwhile since the Northern Tribe was barely touched by the 100 year war (only one big encounter with the 1st season finale), the north had the luxury to maintain tradition like nothing ever happened and therefore keep up with their spiritual duties.
