Have you guys watched any of the Studio Ghibli movies? Just curious.

Are you doing movie reactions with timer or do you put the actual footage in the video?

AP

Yeah, it's the studio behind Spirited Away. If you haven't seen that, would definitely recommend. If you have, then I would recommend either Princess Mononoke, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, or Howl's Moving Castle.

I second mononoke, its a classic among classics. His other movies feel a bit childish to me but for some people thats a plus.

(Some quick recs: Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade, Fate/stay night - Unlimited Blade Works, Berserk: The Golden Age Arc. The movies yall have up are all pretty good esp Vampire Hunter D and Sword of the strange, Summer wars is a good movie but its a family feel good movie too with action.

For something out of the box there's this series thats french animated that is heavily inspired by anime media Called LastMan that just got a eng dub you should check it out its fuckin amazing each episode is around 10 mins long and no bullshit (https://youtu.be/0CtGzj7NmSA)

They have a timer, most of the footage is cut out of frame except for a bit for synch purposes.

Seconding the Berserk: Golden Age movies, it's a trilogy and right up your alley, well...with a bit less comedy and just a biiiit more violence. I'd also add the Kara no Kyoukai films, they're a little weird though. It's technically a series of movies, but their length is all over the place, some are hella short for movies. For Ghibli movies, most of them are pretty far outside your normal, but Princess Mononoke might be worth the watch. For other great movies that are outside your usual, maybe check out Paprika and Perfect Blue, they are both considered anime classics. Lastly, this is kinda cheating since it's technically an OVA, but watch Hellsing Ultimate.

Oh, for sure. I'm sure they would really enjoy Mononoke. I put Spirited Away first since it's regarded so highly, but I feel that Mononoke has more of what they're looking for. I was also gonna put Grave of the Fireflies on here, but it would probably be too much... doesn't really fit the overall vibe of their channel because it's so grim and depressing. Most of the stuff they watch is very bright and action-oriented.

I thinkt hey should just watch the besrserk anime, i dont thik they should watch the movies. Maybe the third movie but the 1997 anime is masterful and cgi ruins a lot of berserk.

ChaosPudding

I can recommend The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, also Your Name

I agree berserk golden age arc has 3 amazing movies they have most up to date graphics don’t watch the 1997 version tho

Steven Fechter

The 1997 is the ultimate berserk adaption. They should just not watch berserk at all if theyre gonna watch dogshit gross cgi.

Tbf in the first movie they look like wii characters but no matter the adaptation I hope you guys react to berserk as it’s what got me into anime it’s just a fucking hardcore story that not only is basically entirely action it has a captivating storyline in the mix as well gets the blood pumping

Chinese Cartoons

I'd like the 97' version more if it didn't fuck up the story and do things like remove my boy skull knight. Honestly it's still better than the movies, but they aren't asking for TV show recommendations.

Steven Fechter

Thats a minor thing tho. Thats the one thing the thrid movie fixed. And I know but i recommend not to watch the movies over the show so i felt it needed to be brought up. There really arent a lot of good anime movies that arent just recaps of a better series.

either of you managed to get past 2 minuets of the 2016 adaptation
