We hope everyone is having a great Friday (if you are watching along on release day)! We are back with another 2 part episode. Today it's Run BTS in Hotel Part 1.

Imagine BTS, sitting around on a hotel floor just playing games. Well today you don't have to imagine because that's what the guys are up to. The real question we are asking today is where are the guys at in this episode?

If you know, tell us in the comments.

Elhana Bamr

Oh it would be great if you have cooking show here, who is the best cook 😁✌️?

Shreya

I believe the guy were in the middle of their world tour here I don’t remember exactly where tho if I’m not mistaken this ep they were supposed to do something else but it started raining outside so they Did this -unless I’m mistaking the rain part with some other similar ep in future it’s been sooo very long since I watched this so tbh 😅

morin

it's also hard because korea has a lot of loanwords so many english words are just pronounced with korean accent

akaV

Games like this is when you (and BTS) realize just how much English is in their lyrics lol Koreans use many English loan words in their vocabulary.

taz

korean uses a lot of english loanwords - aka “konglish” for example, “pizza” in english would be used and pronounced as “pija” in korean. they didn’t have a specific word for “club” because they use “keulleob.” that’s why they translated it as “ballroom” or “a place where people dance.”

김수진

The lyrics translate games So fun for me 😂 and finally you guys get close to mint chocolate run bts ep!one of my fav ep

Ashlee

I love how competitive they all get 😂

nav

loved thisss

moonie εïз

yeah you’re right there’s a lot of loanwords. that’s why they were translating club into 20 different things 😭😭 there’s a game they’ve played where they can’t use english and it really puts into perspective how many loanwords they use in their everyday. saying english words with an accent when speaking spanish is so real like i use parking a lot more than estacionamiento.

Shreya

many eng words that are culturally orginated because of that thing being famous in eng speaking countries are used in the same way in other countries too especially here in india words like bed, cup, glass, pen we just use english for it its really hard to translate them to original language words cause they are no longer used in everyday life

Makayla Vante

or like in the game caterers episode later on where they can't say any english words and they kept saying "OKAY" or "CHANGE" lol

Ada

Yeah there are a lot of words in korean that are english written phonetically in korean, that don't even have an equivalent because the notion did not exist before the American bases introduced the word and concept. Club is the best example I'm sure there are is no such thing as a club in Korea before 1950 when the soldiers station. Hence why you would use ballroom or dancing place.

yg enthusiast

lots of languages borrow from other languages, so they don’t have “official” words/characters for certain phrases. like there isn’t a “club” word in korean, that’s why the sentences were lengthy. for my language, there isn’t a word for “phone” so we use alphabetic letters in our language to pronounce “telephone” if that makes sense? same with japanese.

Trash burrito 😭😭😭 Lmao

There are or were many French loan words in our culture, as it used to be a French colony. They simply adopted the French word (but pronounced with an accent) for things/food/fruit etc. that were imported into the country by the French, e.g. grapes, which in French is Raisins (ʁɛzɛ̃). This then simply became Mak (fruit) Lasiŋ (lɛzɛ̃) (because, like most Asians, they can't pronounce the R). In the meantime, depending on which country you live in (our people are spread out everywhere, as many had to flee in the late 70s), now simply integrate the "foreign" words into their own vocabulary. Sorry, all this maybe useless information 😅

I’ve had the same experience except it was a retainer and a pizza place. Me and my two kids searched the dumpster for an hour and never found it lol.

Maya

One time I was at some event with my dad (it was a small gathering for the district I was in) and I had gotten food, put my retainer in a napkin, put it on my dad's plate because he'd already finished his food, told him that was my retainer, and ate my plate. My dad was talking with his friend and walked over to the trashcans with him to throw away the trash. Cue me 5 minutes later going up to him to get my retainers back and the look on my dad's face is forever etched in my mind LOLL luckily we found it pretty quickly and it wasn't damaged because he'd folded the plate over. From that point on, I always kept my retainer myself HAHA.

Catarina

"That's a red flag" 😂😂😂😂😂

LoveOT7

BTS wouldn't be singing lyrics they don't understand especially if it's their own songs. Its just that translating from one language to another isn't always easy. Just like in my language, some words don't have an english translation or its complicated to translate to english and vice versa.

Catarina

Yes, I think all languages (or at least most of them) may use some words from another one. Here in Brazil we use mostly from English too (skate, milk shake, delivery, etc.), but with our accent, like Daniel said. Love you guys! Bye

lars

maybe you were thinking of hobi's punishment from one of the eps where he's supposed to do something outside but didn't get to do it because it was raining?

Nira

It's the same with Kindergarten, right? Or is there an actual english term for it?

Zahraa

I'm pretty sure they would know the meanings to the English lyrics, they have a very good understanding of english and on top of that the lyrics would probably be explained if they didn't understand.

Gacha_cookie 117

Not me focusing on Gabriel’s water. We started out full and we ended up very empty haha

REECE

Y'all they know what their singing 😭 They might not be fluent in English but they have a lot of understanding of it. And also this video was a while ago, now in 2024 they could probably have a whole conversation in English, at least a basic one. They're not going to sing something and not know the meaning behind what they're saying. They're the ones who write and produce the songs so of course they know what they're saying lol. Yoongi said one time to not say things in front of them thinking they're not going to understand, because they understand more than you think they do. Anyway, this episode was really fun can't wait for pt.2!

Ikah Moks7

My fav episode

Arla

Fun reaction guys!! There are funnier episodes and more iconic episodes coming up!! Can’t wait!!

LoriG

I bet most of us have had to dig through trash to find a missing retainer! 😅

BZ

Omg I have been laughing for 6 mins straight 😂 and the video has just started 😭😭💜💜💜 this is why I love you alp

NatsLocker

I'm mad because the lyrics to dope ARE "Fire, fire! Higher, higher!" So I don't know why they did them dirty like that. 😭🙏

Nande Zenzile

Please react to VMIN moments 💜

Seneca

Haha, no the director was right! They weren't counting the background vocals that echoed the word. So the right answer was "fire! higher!". And since Namjoon said "fire! fire!", he was wrong. Hobi said "fire! higher!" so he was right Just like how the line right before that, they only said "all night!" once, they didn't translate the echo

Nikolina

To be fair , RM's english lyrics are quite advanced . Im sure vocal line knows what he says but the exact translation to korean must be hard for them . But the rap line did amazing. I think j hope was the star of this game

Aainnabella

Filipinos like singkwentay nuebe 😊

justsarah

It's no longer "the dumpling incident", it's "the burrito incident". Almost ruined the friendship of Daniel and Abby. 😨

GirlFun03

They didn’t explain the rules correctly/precisely enough = that translate challenge was much harder than seemed. That’s also why the members asked for “how to say this and that?”. Korean uses a lot of chinese etc words not only pure Korean + also they use on daily basics romanized words or how do you call it for example phone they use the same english word just with little different accent but phone in Korean is 전화 ( jeonhwa ) etc. so when they said translate to Korean it wasn’t like they didn’t know their own lyrics meaning just cause that certain part was English in original but it was that hard/challenging for them to translate cause of them actually not knowing certain words even tho they are Koreans cause they maybe heard it just couple of times and are using the Chinese/English new word as expression for that certain word if you know what I mean. So just little explanation for CCW 🥰💜

Danie Vasquez

This ep is so funny! I already watched the next ep ahead of u lol but I will still watch the part 2 with y'all next week 🤣 just realized u are nearing the fun episodes that I like & I'm excited! 🥳

Ali

Ok, Gabriel’s story was so funny. Lol. The Namjoon/Jin team gives me life in this episode. They crack me up.

Jéssica Molinari

In portuguese we have english words and we use for things you dont. Like: show. Show is "concert", so if you have a BTS concert in Brazil, to say "I will go to a BTS concert" we say we are going to an "BTS show". Shopping mall too. We say only "shopping" and no "shopping mall". Ok is and word we use too. And a fun fact: when a person says something that is really true to you and it's to shut up another person, the brazilian meme is "HABLA mesmo" and we dont even say this verb in portuguese!

D

Gabriel 's story is so relatable, specially if you're used to waking up early against your normal biological clock. There are so many words that are from English in my mother tongue, and speaking without English was a fun game when we were growing up. The alternate words were often phrases ( like they were doing with club) or weird Sankrit- origin words which no one ever uses.

iheartstrwbrry

i believe this is in chicago. but i might be wrong 🤣

Monica Ranjit

I am new!! Can't find in the soop reactions :( are they posted here?

Isha

How to join their discord?

gabrielle

summer is literally so funny, i love her 😭😭😭😭

Lana

My uncle would get mad when we would say “Parqueadero” because the proper Spanish word is “estacionamiento” 🤣 parqueadero is more Spanglish

Moth Honey

I live in a border town, and I'm ONLY fluent in Spanglish like that 😭 like saying carro and the like

Maria Jeon

Please react to run BTS episode 79-80

corinne

yeah! i’ve also commented a while back about something similar (it was on one of their bv2 reactions). every time any member who wasn’t namjoon would encounter english, they would comment how the members don’t understand what’s being said. so i commented how the members could understand (if not hold) a basic conversation in english even back when bv2 was filmed (considering they’re surrounded by more english than, say, we are surrounded by korean so it would be easier for them to pick up english), and that just because they don’t seem to react to everything english speakers say or they speak broken english doesn’t mean they understand less than they actually do. of course there are cases where they actually don’t understand, like off the top of my head i remember jikook in bv3 ordering at the restaurant, but in their case they actually admitted to not understanding what the waiter was asking but still tried their best to convey what they want (“together. bam!”) i understand that they’re probably not making fun of the members but the giggling and underestimating of their skills could rub people the wrong way especially when bts is a group whose been criticized for not being fluent in english even by their own fans (ie. armys telling them to speak english on their lives) so i hope the misunderstanding regarding their english-speaking and english-understanding skills stops.

Catarina

Kkkkkk tinha CTZ q algum BR ia responder 😂BORAHAE💜💜💜

Maya

I mean this in the nicest way possible but abby was showing her white american side in the intro with the burrito fiasco (said as a californian LOLL) like honeyyyy, we do not waste food in this household. the only people I've met who have ever thrown away any food are white americans. i'm mexican american and come from a full brown household and all of my ethnic friends (japanese, chinese, indian, puerto rican, etc) and I were in shock when our new white friend told us she'd throw away her leftovers if they're not eaten by the next day ??? hUH WHAT? loll we were all in shock, having this full on debate in the cafeteria

Maya

but IM DEAD,, someone should have edited gabriel's slow blinking with that blinking sound effect

Chiii<3

Omgggg Daniel I guessed idol too! I legit thought I was going crazy cause I could hear it so well but then it was righttt

Erin Kemble

very much an Aussie white? we do eat leftovers if we are going to eat it within five days, after that it is bin... If there is certain food that aren't leftover worthy we do throw it in the bin. I used to hate eating leftovers because they aren't cook freshly like the first time, lol, was a very picky eater as a child, now, still sorta picky, but with the food that are leftovers worthy... plus it is only mother and I, we do try to eat same sort of food twice, if possible. Or make batches that can be freezed up for another night in the future weeks. so when we do feel lazy to cook, we can freezer food nights...

Please react to more run bts and bts in the soop

laura

i agree, they actually know more english than i know korean lol. Not to mention how much they have been influenced by the west and kpop in general tends to use alot of english in their lyrics. there's even an episode later on where they are forced to not use english terms or else they lose and they lost very quickly 😂it shocks me that they still believe they dont understand anything at all lol.

laura

guys, the members understand english lmao. Obviously not fluently but they have lived with Namjoon for almost a decade around this time. Not to mention they have a hand in writing lyrics and are highly involved in the music creating process. at this point they are very in touch with translations and the meanings of their own songs lol. this was also around the time that they were peaking in the west so English was a language used alot around them while they were traveling. Like other people have mentioned, Hangul uses alot of english words in general because for somethings there arent exact translations... just like how it may be in spanish or any other language in the world.

Lindy

Jin got confused with his team’s name 🤣 he guessed some correct answers though..🤣
