Saw the movie. Got a sense of the character now (instead of nothing). It informed a lot of how I drew the character this time. The last one is kind of embarassing but w/e! Learned alot anyway. Feel like I've done a lot to reconcile her design with my style this time around.
I did record this - I will be uploading the video and PSD later.
'bout the movie though.
I really had no hopes in it. For me the previews came out of nowhere weeks ago since I basically exist in a vacuum of comedy/ writing podcasts I dreaded seeing it because 1: I always get dragged into disney/ pixar animations regardless of whether or not I'm interested in them and 2: I have no room in my heart for new musicals, which this had a very good chance of being.
But instead of Cute Animals Doing Cute Things: The Movie what I got was a well thought out piece on stereotyping, isms, lack of self awareness/ revelatory fuckups, and the potential to heal from all sides. On top of you know. Great characters/ characterization/ designs/ setting.
I didn't like the story so much (remove characterization and leave only the motivation/investigation plot threads to see what I mean) but eh. It was necessary to show how the characters would grow and that's the important part. Even well after watching it I can't stop thinking about the premise of the movie or the city proper itself. I like it. I like it a lot. And not because of furry dick swole. No... I like this because I feel like it's a kind of story that needed to be told but never thought it would happen this way from Disney.
So Rick and Morty and now Zootopia... cartoon writing game is on point. God damn.
