Glad you liked the movie. Yes, you are having a stroke. Definitely a long one, but a very good movie. A heartwarming movie while still incorporating dildo weapons and jumping on anal plugs and hot dog fingers in mouths. It is typical for bilingual people to switch languages for one reason or another especially around family. For the children, it’s usually because they’re not fluent in their parent’s language so they revert back to the language they’re comfortable with. For the parents, it’s probably a mix of trying to communicate in their second language but reverting back to their native language out of habit. Also, when you’ve really internalized more than one language, you just subconsciously switch. I’m still pondering the meaning of the bagel, but near the end when Evelyn put the googly eye on her forehead, it was the inverse of the bagel color-wise. Like her love and understanding (the black dot in the eye) was the missing hole (in the bagel) the daughter was missing. At least I think that might have been what it symbolized in the end. Without that missing piece, everything felt like it was being sucked up trying to fill that hole for the daughter. Nothing mattered because of that empty feeling. Or I dunno, maybe she just needed to plug that hole with one of those trophies.

I love this movie. Gets me teary eyed every time though! Especially the mother-daughter dynamic (and being saved from the black hole that is depression). So glad to be able to see your reaction to this!

It was a solid watch, I love stuff like this with deeper meanings and are just so artistically different than typical movies. One of those long movies that doesn't feel like a long movie cause it has you so pulled in to the story.

🤣😂🤣😂 Yea, the phallics threw me off hahaha. But that's art baby! Yea the bilingual thing totally makes sense, very cool too! I'd love to speak another language, I have enough trouble with my own lmao. I feel it dude, I feel the bagel meaning can be interpretive, but idk, some people on google was rooting it to older cultural meanings, etc., and another said the bagel is pessimism and the eye is like optimism.
