I got about this far on this map before I realized I was using the wrong reference materials! WHOOPS.

I've got to start over again (GOSH DARNIT) but this will be an unofficial map of the other side of the DotL World.

You might be able to copy and paste some or parts of those mountain ranges onto the new map. IDK might save you some time at least :)

I'm curious to know how you are deciding what to put and where.

Oh, don't you worry. I got my Cartography Photoshop Brushes. They'll help me out. (It's how I made all those dang mountains in the first place.)

Disclaimer. I have no background in how tectonic plates should move, nor how weather should act given a fictional map.... The yellow line is how i measure between two points. I try and make sure I know the distance between towns so that characters don't seem to time travel by arriving somewhere too quickly. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/24963815/map-googleearth.JPG Tectonic plates in green showing their direction of travel. Mountain ranges should appear on the edge of where they are pushing towards. Weather with warm air red, and cooler air blue. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/24963815/map-references.JPG But then again. it's supposed to be fun, not "boring but scientifically accurate".

While it is good to get research from true geography... When I worldbuild (I have created a few rpgs on Rpgmaker), I try to stay away from any kind of normal models of geography lest I accidentally create a landform that is US-esque or Russia-esque, etc. Instead I draw some animal or plant or shape, and add geographic "fuzz". It led to some geographic features like hat or octopus shaped continents. The reason I'm suggesting this is because currently we have another map being drawn. http://www.awakencomic.com/comic/intemission-first-arc-map-1 As the bottom half of the map is drawn, some landforms should look significantly unique to differentiate both from accidental resemblance to other comics and to real life landforms. But don't draw an octopus either.

This is a post apocalyptic story so resemblence to a pre-existing landscape was the goal.
