Full Length Reaction Guide

We take copyright law very seriously, so you will have to sync up our reaction to your own version of the show/movie. To help, we have a range of guiding tools throughout the reaction to help you sync up with us, including a small snippet of the scene to ensure you are in sync.  Any instances in which you see the screen cut, this means we’ve had technical difficulties or have skipped a potential disruptions/bloopers. This means you will need to sync up your copy of the show again, if we are unable to edit these cuts seamlessly into the next scene. An updated timecode will be provided on the screen.  Anytime we pause, there will be timer/countdown on screen to prompt you. So if we’re about to pause, there’ll be a countdown, and you are expected to pause as the number reaches 0. The same will happen when we press play after pausing. You will press play as the number reaches 0.  Here are some popular ways people sync up the reaction with their own copy of the show:

  • Use a dual monitor PC setup to watch both screens simultaneously
  • Use the split screen functions on your computer/phone to watch them side by side
  • Chromecast / Screenshare one screen to your TV while watching the other screen on a phone or laptop
  • HDMI your laptop / tablet to the TV and use the TV as a 2nd monitor (not mirror display)
  • Use your Smart TV or Gaming console to play the YouTube reaction and your Phone/Laptop to play the show (or other way around)
  • Use Google chromes picture in picture mode to overlay your own copy of the show over our reaction in a smaller window size (Link to the extension here: ( https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/picture-in-picture-extens/hkgfoiooedgoejojocmhlaklaeopbecg?hl=en )

Are the last two episodes best to watch/release together as a two parter? I don't remember it

This is the one where Kuvira goes full on Khaleesi

Jose

Haha that’s an interesting comparison between those characters. I never thought of that.

Jose

In case you guys didn’t know, Kuvira’s mecha giant is actually made out of the platinum domes that she tore from Zaofu. I believe it was at the end of episode 5 or 6 when Kuvira said, “Begin dismantling the domes at dawn” right after she had annexed Zaofu. I thought that was a pretty interesting detail. Took me years of rewatching to notice that lol

SuddenImpulse

Yeah its a really great detail. I am glad they bothered to explain where that large mass of platinum came from instead of just handwaving it like a lot of shows would.

We see Avatar world history somewhat following our world history, and Spartan is spot-on about the parallels, not just with Germany, but with the rise of fascism in general in history and in parts of the world today. The 100 Years War (in Avatar) ended with much of the Earth Kingdom traumatized by the treatment by the Fire Nation. Despite the amends Zuko made and the healing that came in the rest of his and Aang's lives, those scars still survive in the villages brutalized by the Fire Nation, and the people of the Earth Kingdom don't seem to have progressed much since then. We see the massive wealth disparity in Ba Sing Se, which has always existed, coupled with a ruler who impoverishes her own people. After being overthrown, anarchy and chaos rule the world. Then comes Kuvira, who is using the United Republic as a scapegoat, to rally people behind the idea that the Earth Kingdom/Empire can be great again, and take back what's theirs. She inspires many of the people, and silences those who are against her. The people of the Earth Kingdom are swept up in trying to right the wrongs they feel have been done to them, and Kuvira's narrative helps them view themselves as people who are standing up to take back the "glory days" that they once had. It was very much the same idea Hitler, Mussolini, Fransisco Franco, and other fascists sold to their people, and you can see echoes of it today.
