YEHHHEESSSS I WAS SCARED I WAS GON HAVE TO BREAK UP MY WATCHING TONIGHT!

Eddy

Amazing movie! James Cameron did multiple submersible trips to the actual Titanic wreckage to film footage for this movie.

Lisa Rhodes

If you guys love history then watch the true story of ALIVE -This movie is 100% accurate of a rugby team crashing in the Andes and there survival . It is a very gripping story . Titanic- They couldn't pull it up because it would crumple probably. It has a lot of the known names that died on the Titanic, the Heart of the ocean some say is the hope Diamond( cursed )the real one . Not the story depicted in this movie. yes there are several Museums that has the story of the Titanic in them you can even feel how cold the water was when the ship went down. Not crazy that the band didn't stop playing they were trying to calm down and calm others down they knew they were going to die. Women and children first they didn't have enough life boats the first boats were half full very sad.

MovieMagician

Yes. Can't wait to watch it with the wife later

Patty Estrada

Jordan, finally you’ve seen a Leonardo DiCaprio movie! You’ll want to watch more, trust me. Some of my favorites are “Catch Me If You Can” directed by Spielberg also starring Tom Hanks. “Inception” a sci-fi with a great ensemble cast. “The Departed” by the great Scorsese also stars Jack Nicholson. And “Django Unchained” one of my favorite Tarantino movies. Also, as Amber mentioned before “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape” is a great movie, Leo was so young in this one.

Patty Estrada

Wait, how did Heathers have the full length movie? I just assumed you had swicthed over to offering the full length movie without having to sync it to your own copy. Maybe it was just a fluke.

RobSquadMovieReactions

It was a fluke. We definitely didn’t anticipate that to be allowed but somehow it was okay. A little nervous to try it again

Patty Estrada

Got it! Thanks for clarifying. Yeah, especially with a movie like Titanic, best not take any chances. Hey Amber, I'm going to send an email with a country artist that you might like....bell bottom country is what she calls it. Hopefully you'll see it.

As many have mentioned the underwater footage of the wreckage is in fact real. James Cameron (the director) led many underwater dives to the site of the wreckage. While the characters of Jack and Rose were not real, most of the socialites and crew members mentioned in the movie were. Including the little old couple in bed, Isidor and Ida Straus, who were the owners of Macys...The Unsinkable Molly Brown...The Band...etc.

Red Dwarf

The chef riding the back of the ship was based on a real dude too. He survived by swimming to an overturned lifeboat and also said he had a lot to drink that night so he barely felt the cold lol

Titanic is a great film, but if you want to see the two best films of 1997, got to checkout LA Confidential (One of the best Crime Drama’s ever) and Good Will Hunting (a great dramedy that won Robin Williams his only Oscar win and Matt Damon and Ben Affleck won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay).

Kevin

1997 was one of those great years for movies. I second the nomination of "Good Will Hunting" as it has the great Matt Damon and the unspeakably good Robin Williams in dramatic roles.

Yes, Rose passed away at the end, an old woman warm in her bed, just like she promised. The title of that final instrumental track is called "A Promise Kept."

Amber and Jay, I've seen other Patreon reactors play the whole movie unfiltered. They use Vimeo which also allows the stream to be popped out of the Patreon page (great for those of us who like "Dark Mode") and the player box greatly expanded. Just a thought. I was able to see Titanic on opening night in December of 1997. I sat in the front row. What an experience. I wasn't able to see the whole screen I was so close. While the movie has a lot of historical accuracy, Neil Degrass Tyson has told James Camron that his big beef with the movie is that the stars in the sky are wrong for April 15, 1912. Camron may or may not fix it in the upcoming 4K UHD release this fall for the 25th anniversary. They are remastering the film for color and resolution improvements.

It's pretty amazing how this movie is so ingrained in my childhood, it came out when I was 7, and my family didn't see it until we rented it at Blockbuster when I was 8. And it just kicked off a lifelong interest in the subject & truthfully real Empathy for that type of thing in history, you guys said what I got since my 1st watch at 8, history is history on paper, but when you see it depicted through performance, it can bring points home. As previously noted, though the main characters in the storyline weren't real (with the exception of Cathy Bates who got a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination for this, Molly Brown was in fact very real) SO many of the characters you see from the captains to the band to the crew to certain passenger names are depictions of real people & how they died or survived is accurately depicted. I too never understood as a kid why Titanic was never pulled up, but yea the weight of that.....it'd be ALOT, plus at this rate it's a sensitive grave. Also as noted the "why weren't they both on the door frame" gets ALOT of discussion, but I think it's simple, it's not about "would it be able to hold both of them" people look past the point that Jack's priority was her safety, he wasn't going to risk it not saving her to try to save them both, my theory is he knew what he was doing & he knew either boats would come back to save them both or that if they'd both die he'd go first to save her, and it's an amazing thing that so few people catch that part.

BRENDA

This may be my favorite movie reaction that you both have done to date.

Such a great movie! In my opinion, its the best of all time ... If you would like another great love story, can I suggest 2005 Pride & Prejudice

Richard

The messed up part is the Californian ship was about 15 miles away from the Titanic on the night it sank

MotoDork

FYI all shots of Jack's hands drawing anything were actually James Cameron's hands. Cameron did all drawings for the film.

Emily Gray

The circumstances surrounding Titanic was really a tragedy of errors. The movie mentions many of them. The decision to only have half as many lifeboats and once lowered, to underfill them. Speeding up into an ice field. The overall design of the ship was faulty which actually sped up the sinking process once it began. The fact the binoculars went missing from the crows nest that night preventing the look out from seeing the iceberg from further away. The use of the newer 'C.Q.D' code that ships (like the nearby California) were less familiar with as a distress signal. It was a sad sequence of events but we do honor those lost as the event did lead to safer regulations required for sea travel.

Emily Gray

Another interesting tidbit to make the sinking scene just a bit more terrifying - for hypothermia (freezing to death) in water, there is a standard ratio doctors and mariners use. In this particular situation, Jack said the water was freezing, maybe a few degrees over. So we'll say approx 37 degree (f) water. Under those conditions, the average person has a 37% chance of surviving 37 minutes in water that cold. So while the Carpathia didn't show up until dawn that morning, most of the victims who survived the initial sinking likely died from hypothermia in less than 30 minutes. So when Rose said "It's getting quiet" while the rowboats were getting organized, it may have seemed like a long time but in reality was probably about 10-15 minutes. (of course when you are freezing to death and waiting for help, minutes probably feel like hours, so...)

Matthew

I think in reality that water in April is usually like 28 degrees, otherwise the icebergs would all be melted before they got that far down from the arctic, so you'd probably be dead in less than 10 minutes.

Emily Gray

I wouldn't doubt it! Those numbers were purely from what was quoted in the movie.

thank u next

hi yall I'm new here. had to sub to patreon to see your full uncut. this is one of my favorite movies ever!! so glad yall enjoyed it. idk if you've already done it yet, but you need to do the Notebook too. 🙏

20.00 in 1012 would have been close to 650.00 today. but yeah for an oil tycoon who was filthy rich that's not much.

Book recommendation- On A Sea of Glass: The Life and Loss of the RMS Titanic

Eddie Perkins

I had to go back and watch the full-length reaction with you all; I love this movie. No matter how many times I've watched it, it still pulls at my heartstrings.
