If I recall correctly, Back to the Future 2 & 3 were among the first films in a series to be shot back to back or simultaneously. That's why they were able to pack so much footage for the 3rd film onto the end of this one for a preview. Richard Donner's Superman and Superman II shot concurrently. The producers of those films (Alexander and Ilya Salkind) had gotten into trouble earlier in the 70's for contracting crew and talent for one really long Three Musketeers movie that they then split into two movies and screwing those folks out of some pay they deserved. A lawsuit fixed that, but because of that, when productions like The Matrix 2 & 3 and the Lord of the Rings trilogies shoot multiple films at once, it's crystal clear in the contracts and union deals. If you were amused by what Zemeckis in 1989 thought 2015 might look like, you might get a couple of laughs at how Ridley Scott's “Blade Runner” depicted Los Angeles in 2019. Actually, it's grim enough where “laughs” might not be the right word. But interesting. Can't wait to see if 2032 is anything like the movie “Demolition Man”. I do have an interest in how “the future” is depicted in different time periods. In the 20's, Fritz Lang's “Metropolis” depicted the future cities buzzing with with biplanes and blimps. Cars and building are often designed with what looks futuristic for its time, but end up looking dated soon after. From 1930's gas stations that look like they were leftover from a Flash Gordon set, to jet and rocket inspired car designs of the 50's, to buildings from the 60's that look like they belong in a Jetson's cartoon, somehow yesterday's vision of “the future” seems to become quickly retro. Looking for some time travel, AND some Bruce Willis? If so, maybe consider "Looper" (2012).

There's also another futuristic Bruce Willis movie, Fifth Element. Defnitely a unique view of the future. Plus they'd get to see Gary Oldman (Sirius Black) as a villain.

I like “Back to the Future II”, but I prefer the first one which I like the most and the third one I like more than this one. I miss Crispin Glover being in this. The “What are you? Chicken?” line gets old fast. I love Elisabeth Shue, but I miss Claudia Wells. Her mom was diagnosed with cancer which is why Claudia did not appear in this. She stopped acting for a few years. Initially, I was confused with the timeline. I had to watch it a couple of times to figure it out and I’m with Amber in that I needed Doc Brown to explain it on the chalkboard. I made a joke at the time that I would have preferred John Madden. “So Biff steals the Time Machine! Boom! And he goes back to 1955! Then boom! He goes back to the future and he’s messed up the past! Then boom! Marty and Doc got to go back to the past!” I love how they reshot the scenes from the first movie. I love the 80s cafe which I think would be a great place to visit. The Max Headroom-esque depictions of Ronald Reagan and Michael Jackson are very dated now, but pretty cool at the time. Now they probably would have AI MJ or Reagan. It’s fun to see how the future could have been versus what is. The hover board in this movie is awesome. I love Marty’s shoes and jacket. I’m thinking that the reason why George was murdered is because Crispin Glover did not return. Had he returned, perhaps George McFly might have been sent to jail or prison framed by Biff. We would have seen Marty visit his father behind bars and maybe sharing a cell with Uncle Joey. Who knows? I really did like this movie, but it’s more fun to watch with other people and any time we get to hang out with Amber and Jay is a great time. ❤️🙏
