Mike, a Saint Bernard would absolutely wreck you, and just about any other human ever born. Maybe a little slower than a velociraptor but the result would be the same. The serial killer possession aside, I enjoyed the book's Cujo-eye view of events. Most of the time he attacked it was. Because his head hurt (usually from the dehydration thanks to the rabies induced hydrophobia I think) and he didn't know why. So the ringing phone or Joe's drunken yelling just cause him agony and he would kill whomever was causing it just to make it stop. Unbeknownest to Donna honking the car horn kept setting him off as well.

I am pretty certain that I read or heard of a confession that, maybe in addition to this book of course, he says he can't remember writing The Dark Half (a great "lesser" King book) because he was doing so much cocaine. I also believe that book is about the two almost split personalities of an addict contra their sober selves. He also wrote most of Dreamcatcher during a bout of serious influenza and can barely remember it. Probably why that book is barely comprehensible.
