I lived in a town for a while where walmart built itself on a graveyard, there was still half of it in the back. It was the highest point in the town. The town fought its placement and won, but then they just tried again 10 years later and got it through.

I like the idea that it’s a Shining-type power. It’s all the explanation I need for the why and how. As for how/why Pascow’s ghost was appearing, what he said, that Louis tried to help him, so he was returning the favor, is also adequate to me. But then something occurred to me and I looked into it, and OFC I’m not the only person who sees the abundance of the Magical Negro (I hope it’s acceptable for me to use that word in the context of naming the trope). We see it so often, with Dick Halloran, Mother Abigail, and John Coffey, to name a few. Idk if Pascow was Black in the book, or if it’s just a coincidence, but there you go.
