Our three co-hosts are stuck in the multiverse and need to get back to their home universe. Clearly, the only way to do that is to explore our cultural obsession with multiverses, alternate timelines and parallel worlds, and tie it all into a conversation about post-modern art, pop culture, and the lessons these stories teach us. Also, each episode, one of them is an asshole who will probably sabotage the whole thing.

This week, on this patreon-exclusive show, we discuss 2004’s The Butterfly Effect!

Holy crap the guest could not be more wrong about the his multiverse bit. He is so wrong I have to listen assuming he is just fucking around being a ha ha jokester. It’s one timeline. And I hate that I agreed with Abe.

Adam's not a guest! We're three buddies trying to get home. Also, sorry you hate Abe.

Great podcast as usual. I'm loving the ambiguity of what is cannon in the multi-verse of beans trying to get home. I was thinking about this distinction between changing the past to heal your own traumas vs to prevent yourself from harming others. I actually think preventing yourself from being traumatized is a potentially selfless act because trauma can make it harder to have positive relationships and can ultimately be harmful to everyone around the traumatized person too. As y'all so rightly pointed out in this episode, hollywood movies thrive on conflict, and I think this feeds the idea that happiness is always a zero-sum game but I think its important to remember that helping yourself often is the best thing you can do for everyone else (as long as it isn't greedy). I definitely come down on the side of having the potential to change things is good (although we should be careful because things can go wrong). Anyway, keep it real y'all and good luck getting home :)
