You can even argue the casting of Banderas, as great as he is, is also whitewashing. Banderas is Spanish, not Mexican. Last I checked Spaniards are still considered white (unless we’re gonna start being REALLY racist again). So this was kinda like casting a British person to play George Washington when you consider the Zorro is typically cast as fighting for Mexican Independence from Spain.
