Just saw this for the first time last weekend. Interesting that for a noir with a bunch of really significant female characters there is no femme fatale

My only note is to offer a correction that the place they went in the flashback based on the Ouija board and the phone message, was because they couldn’t find heroin, not weed, and the message said they could get heroin there. Sorry to be pedantic.

Also, the movie expressly shows that sortilege is just part of Doc’s subconscious at a couple points. Also Also: sortilege is french for a way of making decisions by divination or witchcraft.
