I Am Not Chamari

This movie is just so well made. Incredibly devastating of course, but also superbly paced with some simply amazing sequences and shots. It kind of goes to show how important intervention is when someone is in a crisis. All of the brothers were just taught to push it off until they couldn't anymore. We see a beautiful scene between Kevin and David in the bathroom at Kevin's wedding, but they laugh off the idea of him taking a break and not going to Japan. Mike is essentially forced into the ring and Kerry forces himself back into the ring long before he is ready. It's just heartbreaking to watch it all unfold. Kevin tried his best and still lost them all. The film actually had to leave out one brother, Chris von Erich, who also dies by suicide, because the writer/director thought it would be too much tragedy for one film. And I'm sure technical/narrative considerations as well contributed to that decision. They left out some of the brothers' spouses and children (David's and Kerry's) which I also think worked in the film's favor. And honestly, I totally get that. This already caused enough pain! One of my favorite moments of the film, other than that gorgeous ending, is when we see Kerry riding on the boat. The sheer tranquility of that moment really affected me. And to see the quarter and that it landed on tails... wow.
