The carpenter is irritated when there[s no hole for him to plug, but then I call down Petunia and Vernon and explain the situation. He leaves soon after with a moderately sized wad of cash, and the promise to not tell anyone of this incident. No guesses on how long that's going to last. He basically got paid to show up at someone's house. He'll be bragging to all his friends about the crazy people he met today soon enough.

Me and Harry are subsequently yelled at for wasting everybody's time, and banished back to our realm of darkness to contemplate the folly of man/woman.

"Really," Harry complains, "how in the blazes are we responsible for the hole being gone? And how is that a bad thing!?"

I simply shrug, "No idea, but let's get to bed. We've got school tomorrow." So saying, I lay down on the bed with my back facing the door. After letting out a sigh, I feel Harry lay down behind me, our backs touching.

We say nothing to each other as we gently drift off to sleep, having been forced to forgo dinner once again.

After we awaken and make everyone breakfast again, we prepare to head off to school. Ah, school. One of the few places me and Harry are permitted to go where we are at least mostly out of reach of the Dursleys. Sure, there's Dudley and his gang, but most of our time is spent in class where they can't do anything overt.

As such, as soon as Vernon pulls up to the dull red building, Harry and I run to the entrance. We slow down to a normal walking pace once we reach the doors and hear Vernon yell one last thing before we're out of earshot. "I better not hear any more complaints about you two doing strange things at school!" He shakes his fist at us before he abruptly skids off, smoke rising from his tires.

We share a glance and a shrug before walking into the building as properly as we can. We've never done anything strange to our knowledge before. So what if our teacher's wig turned blue, how could we have possibly done that? More to the point, why would we do that!? School is our temporary sanctuary from the Dursleys! We do our best to stay in our teacher's good graces. And it works! Mostly!

Mainly our teacher doesn't try to find fault with us like the Dursleys try to. And sometimes she'll let us stay in the room with her on our breaks so we can avoid Dudley and his gang! Hmm, maybe I should think up a nickname for them so I have an easier way to refer to them...

As I contemplate various deprecatory things to call them, we arrive at the classroom. Luckily the teacher is there. I look her over as we head to our seats in the middle of the classroom. She wears her usual unflattering yellow V-neck and dark blue, nearly black knee-length skirt. She's kind of chubby, and her small round spectacles rest on her bulbous nose. She wears a white wig in the style of a bob. I don't know her name though. On our first day of school, she told us that she wasn't planning to let a bunch of little guttersnipes know her personal information. She said that we could call her either Ma'am, or Teacher.

She gives us a slight nod of approval as we sit quietly at our desks. I take out one of the school books to reread as I wait for class to start. Harry meanwhile takes out a piece of paper and starts to write something. He'll do that sometimes, but he never lets me read them. The one time I almost managed to get one of the papers from him, it burst into flames! After that I just let him be.

Unfortunately, the bell rings all too soon, and the other students begin trudging in. There aren't many of us, only nine. And half of us are part of Dudley's gang. The other two who aren't are the first to enter. They're rather unremarkable. Plain faces, black hair and eyes, nothing that stands out other than they have nice clothes. I don't know their names either. Harry might, but I don't care enough about them to ask.

After them comes the...Dudang? Witless? Vapids? Let's go with that one. The Vapids enter right after the two nameless ones. Dudley gives us a glare, probably upset that he couldn't bully us after missing a whole day of it yesterday. I just return a smirk back at him. He blinks, looking a bit unsettled, before settling down in his chair at the front of the room. The rest of the Vapids fall in around him.

Once the rest of them are seated, the teacher stands up. "Well, good to see that all of you are here today. I've got an announcement that will affect the rest of our time together." This causes a stir in the room. Even Dudley, who normally manages to take a nap with his eyes open, sits up straight.

"You see, we will be getting a new student today. They will remain with us until your graduation from my wonderful class." A knock on the door prevents her from continuing. "Ah, speak of the devil," the door opens, "well class, please welcome..."
