I stare at the ability and the note for a few moments before I wave them away. It's not like I mind the unexpected windfall or anything. But...

That warning is way too ominous!

"What the hell is with these random effects on the warning!? Intense pain? Yeah, that's at least reasonable. The turning into a pickle? Stupid, but if overdrawing my mana causes my regeneration to go wild, I can kind of see how it might be possible. Even if it is stupid.

But dimensional destruction? The fuck kind of result is that! Compared to that, the other two seem reasonable! What, does overdrawing my mana interfere in the way the dimension works or something? The hell kind of ability did you give me Lord Soahc!?"

I take a few deep breaths to try and calm myself. "Ok, ok. It's not that bad. I just have to make sure that I'm careful in whatever spell I use my magic for. Might as well start experimenting now." I look around, noting that I’m still surrounded by grass on all sides. "...Maybe no fire spells though."

I pause my steps as I focus on my mana drawing out a small amount of it from a ball in the center of my chest. I can tell that it's not physically there, but simply a visual aid to help me use it. Unbeknownst to me, the rings on my tail take on the slightest tinge of green.

I channel the mana into my hands as I raise them in front of myself. I focus on what I want to do, then push it out! "Wind blade!"

A slight breeze pushes out from my hands. I think it moved some of the stalks of grass I was aiming at, but I'm not sure.

“…”

I say nothing, only stare at the grass in front of me. I take a quick glance at my mana.

Mana: 298/300

“…”

"Ok. So the amount of mana I use is commiserate with the effect. More mana means a stronger effect, while less mana weakens it. Just like I thought. I totally wasn't expecting a decently sized wind blade to clear a large area of the grass in front of me. Nope." I nod my head rapidly. "Yep, that was a totally expected result from my intention experiment. No one else is around, so whatever I say about the matter is the truth!"

As I try to explain myself to... myself, the near unseeable tinge of green in my tail rings fades.

Suddenly I hear a rustle in the grass behind me. Startled, I spin around, peering into the waving grass. After a few moments, the grass parts and a large bunny appears. And by large, I mean LARGE. It's easily waist high on my five five frame. And on its head, is a pointed protrusion.

"A unicorn bunny! A bunnicorn!" My shout seemed to have startled the bunnicorn as it jumps backwards. I stare at it in wonder, trying to take in every detail of its adorable frame.

Skill obtained: Identify

"Cool! A staple for sys- er, kas. An identify ability." I refocus my attention on the bunnicorn, attempting to use my new skill on it.

Bunnicorn

Race: Monster

L.V: 5

Health: 1,000

Mana: 1,500

I freeze and stare at the monster as it begins to let loose a low growl.

"Uh, nice bunnicorn?"

Its horn starts to glow a dark blue. I don't wait for whatever it's trying to do and book it as fast as I can away from my current position.

Soon after, something shoots past me. A quick glance in the direction it shot towards reveals an area of frozen grass around a cleared path.

I decide to run faster.

I can hear a thumping as the bunnicorn hops after me. A quick glance shows that it's easily keeping pace with me. And its horn is glowing the same blue as a few moments ago.

I jump to the side and run in a different direction. I didn't hear anything flying through the air, so I risk another glance back and my eyes widen.

The damn bunny is still charging up its spell!

Even as I look, the bunnicorn launches its spell. I can see it heading towards my face almost in slow motion. This must be that adrenaline rush I've read so much about. Wow, time really does seem to go slower when you've got adrenaline coursing through your veins.

After what seems to be a few moments of staring death in the face, a realization hits me.

Make a barrier dumbass!

I quickly channel my mana towards my face, not focusing on the amount while I envision what I want. No time to shout a name like my inner chuuni wants to, so I just let it loose. A small barrier of ice appears a foot in front of my face, several inches thick. The ice spike strikes the barrier and bounces off. I begin to let out a sigh of relief, but then my barrier bounces back and smacks me in the face!

I stumble and fall, mentally cursing as I roll a couple feet before ending up in the 'face down ass up' position. Stunned, I don't move for a moment. It's not until I feel the thumping of the bunnicorn getting closer that I manage to shake myself back to my senses and get back to my feet.

I take a quick look at my mana as I think about what to do.

Mana: 250/300

I was probably running for a couple minutes before that last shot, so the barrier used fifty mana. Tsk, should've used a bit more to make sure the damn thing didn't move.

Then suddenly, it hits me. I look at the bunnicorn, its horn glowing once again, and smirk at it.

"Hah! You think that you can kill this venerable one? Think again!" I begin to channel my mana to the parts of my body I need to use in order to ensure my plan is successful. Our eyes meet, and the bunnicorn pauses at the look in my eyes. It's not long, but it's enough.

I maintain a connection with the mana channeling into legs, turn around, and book it far faster than I was before.

"Speed enhancement buff bitch!" My voice fades into the distance as my taunt lingers in the area I’ve left behind

The bunnicorn maintains its position for a moment, as if unsure of exactly what just happened. Once it realizes that I'm long gone, it releases a loud, rage filled honk.
