Also, I'm late to leave this comment because it took me several days to finish the video. I was on vacation. I just want to give some background info. Lt. Harry Welsh is the guy with the big gap in his teeth, he did the brave grenade throw against the german machine gunners in the building. He also helped take out that German tank with the guy firing the bazooka. So he did two insanely brave things, and he might have been drunk for both. They show him drinking from his canteen and then making a sour face, that's not water in his canteen. Then there's the scene he offered Blithe a sip from his canteen and Blithe makes a shocked faced after drinking it. Lieutenant Welsh was probably drinking a lot, he was happy and brave basically the whole episode. After many rewatches, I'm like, oh okay I finally get it, he was drunk. This is not to detract or belittle him, it's impressive what Lt. Welsh did. The guy who does the impressions is George Luz, he can be recognized by the big radio backpack he's wearing. Lt. Welsh says to Winters, "War is hell." That is a famous quote from Civil War general Sherman. A couple minutes later Easy company is saved by a bunch of American tanks called "Shermans." The American Sherman tank were named after General Sherman from the civil war. So kind of meta foreshadowing. I think.

This is the episode I always remember the most. I always felt for Blithe, we see him frozen with fear, but overtime he slowly overcomes his fear and finds the courage to fight. Like you said, he started to build that confidence. But then sadly he's shot, whenever I watch stuff like this and see someone get shot I always think if he just took a step to the left or right he would still be alive. I'm sure a person could drive themselves crazy with questions like that. We then see Blithe in a hospital bed at the end, he's alone, he has no one. I think that's why I connected with his character so much. I never took the time to read up about him, I thought he died from his wounds, but then I read the comment on your patreon and found out that he didn't die. That was good to know, whenever I watch war movies I would sometimes think of him. I sometimes wonder how I would do in a situation like that, I know we all like to think that maybe we can be the one but you just never know. If I was to ever end up in a situation like that hopefully I can find the strength to fight, and not just for me but for those around me. I liked the scene when Harry said he was gonna send his reserve chute back to Kitty in England, because it's made from silk she can use it to make a wedding dress. Even though it feels like the world is falling apart around them he still takes the time to think about the woman he loves. I love that. As always it's been a pleasure Imon. You're beautiful, always. <3
