Loving your Bojack reactions!

Great reaction! I think the conversation at the end between you two was awesome. Also, if you think this show makes you think about your own situations now, just wait. I think trying to control the way the world sees you is something that we are taught early on and then is reinforced through our societal values. It's messed up because it never gives you the opportunity to just understand and enjoy who you are. Those that find a way to doing that early in life tend to be shunned or considered weird, which is the worst thing that can happen. Either the kid grows stronger from it - deciding to ignore the protests to conform, or they end up bending over backwards to try and fit in/not rock the boat. That can be super damaging to relationships as an adult, because it teaches you and the person you're with, that you don't feel you have value as you are. On the flip of that though, if you are confident in yourself and know what you want, you'll run into a lot of people who will view you as too aggressive and difficult to be with. Based on conversations I've had with women, this is especially true for them. In a society built around what men want, it's harder for women to just be let alone to be their true selves. It's all screwed up. I sometimes wonder what the world would be like if we all just gave each other an honest chance to interact without expectation or prejudice. For me, I tend toward being overly kind in relationships. The worst thing I've been told is that I'm too nice and that women will take advantage of that. It's true to an extent I guess - humans are opportunistic creatures - but it also is sad. Why is it so common that just because you can take advantage of something or someone, people tend to do so? Even at the expense of another human? It's one of the things about the way our world works that I've often lamented. I feel like if we were able to just accept and be without feeling a need to control, suppress or take advantage of, things would be better. Take BoJack and Todd's friend (whose name I can't recall right now). Both are close to Todd. Both knew that allowing anything between them to happen would ultimately cause him pain were he to discover it. Yet they were presented with an opportunity and took advantage of it. Instead of her talking to Todd or leaving him and instead of BoJack considering his friend's feelings and finding someone else to bed. Opportunistic in a negative way.

Holy crap! That post needs to come with a table of contents and an appendix. lol

Y'all seemed apprehensive at the end as if talking too long was a bad thing. I love the conversations and how extensive they have gotten for some of the episodes! I think it's fair to say one of the reasons people enjoy watching others react to Bojack is due to how introspective it becomes.

Haha, we appreciate this! Sometimes we are on a schedule so discussions just have to be short in general. But it is good to know you guys are happy about the longer discussions!

Always love the longer and deeper discussions you two have for this show! Makes me look forward to this eventual podcast. Communication is essential in any kind of relationship but unfortunately there are a lot of people who act like Emily. Its too awkward for them to communicate openly and they would rather speak vaguely, or drop hints or otherwise give up. I was wondering what was that makeup convo you guys spoke about in your Korra reaction. I agree that in order to build a healthy relationship you need to be able to let your guard down and be authentic and vulnerable and being able to trust the other person to accept you.
