Anne going into the tunnel was a trap kinda like when they tried to have Eren transform in the well so he couldn’t rampage.

"Annie is confusing" That she is! I really liked a lot of the things she was saying to Marlowe. It's not much but it does give I guess tiny snippets of Annie as a person. The ring was smart of Annie honestly. She most likely felt something was up and prepared beforehand just in case. Shows how cautious she is. Also, in the manga, Annie just smiled before trying to transform but Isayama (the mangaka) asked the studio to change it to this laugh instead. According to him, the laugh was meant to show her releasing all the pent up emotions she's been feeling, as well as relief at not having to lie and deceive the others anymore.

Think about it, someone who can transform into a titan wouldn't go underground if they're being cautious bc they'll just get trapped in a cramped space once they transform.

Annie's betrayal is gonna hit home next episode and it may come off as a little weird or forced since the anime never showed this but Annie was the one who trained Eren and taught him how to fight. It never made it into the anime but there was a scene in the manga where Eren and Annie were training together again and Eren asks her whether his imitation of her move that he used on Jean was any good but she laughs him off and says it was nowhere close and terrible. But then she smiles and offers to teach him that move if he likes it so much. Eren and Annie were in fact pretty close throughout training which is why this is gonna hurt him a lot!

Also you guys seem a little more interested in Annie’s character which I’m glad about. The anime did an ok job with her dialogue this episode but they shortened it down a bit so I’ll just give you a little transcript of some of her lines from this same scene in the manga since there’s just a few more lines and details which give more insight into her character. I’ll try to do this whenever I think it’ll help out. If you have the time you can read it. This is Annie speaking to Marlowe (The guy with the bowl cut) Annie: “I think you’re an upright person. What you say is right. I know that people like you exist. Going against the flow… takes a lot of courage. I respect that. Maybe people who can do it are just stupid, but… well… what I’m sure of… is that people like that are rare. So you can’t call them common. You can’t call them normal either. People like you… get called special. So what should we call people like us then? People who put their own interests ahead of others? People who go along with it when they see injustice? What did you call them? ‘Worthless’ or ‘Evil’. From what I saw of the training corps, it was mostly made up of worthless, evil people who wanted to be in the Military Police.” Marlowe: “Stop beating around the bush. You’re just trying to say that you guys aren’t really that bad, right?” Annie: “No… I do think we’re worthless, and we’re definitely evil. You certainly can’t call us upright, but… doesn’t that just make us regular people? If people were essentially good like you say, then this organisation wouldn’t be as rotten as it is, would it? It’s just structured so that it reflects human nature, that’s all. So even if I’m the kind of weak person who gets swept along with flow, I just want you think of me as human… That’s all.”

When Armin Yelled Out “Avenge that suicidal maniac” when they were distracting the female titan he was referring to Eren not Marco, because remember when when they were still in training Jean and Eren got into a fight and that’s what Jean called Eren a “Suicidal Maniac”. So my guess is that Armin said those words to try and confirm his suspicions about their being a traitor(Annie) in their ranks, that’s the reason the female titan hesitated when Armin yelled that, cause she knew who Armin was referring to and was unsure whether she killed Eren by accident which gave Jean enough time to escape from getting hit. I hope this all made sense to you, sorry if it doesn’t.

Yeah, you're right. Armin is not just smart but he's a quick thinker. He doesn't freeze up in scary situation anymore. I'm pretty sure he hasn't frozen since Eren got eaten. Correct me if I'm wrong.

While that was the laugh's intent it was terrible execution on the studio's part. When I saw it the first time I thought, like Abi, she crazy. Then I was like, is she having an orgazm with all that blushing and the look on her face? In no way did it seem like just a release of tension. Which if animated better totally makes sense. I personally don't know anyone who realized that from watching the show. Which is a shame....

Well the Anime does show them training together. She kicks Eren and then Reiner's @$$. The problem is they didn't also include the character developement. Would've been nice too. I know all these fights would've had a more emotional impact on us if they did.

I personally like the manga's version better but it's up to Isayama for some of these changes. I don't disagree with what you're saying about this laugh though. It does make Annie look psycho crazy. Just thought I bring up that that was what Isayama intended with the laugh though.
