Well, Snowblind wanted a picture of the Qilin/Kirin character fighting a demon. How could I say no to that? There was a problem, though.

I hadn't rendered in a while but, still wanted to do an old-style comic book cover with lots of blacks and line shading. It turned out... not bad but, that's no the problem. The problem was, just after the inking of the main image, the drawing got left outside in the rain! I managed to dry it off, mostly by leaving it in between two pieces of printmaker's blotter paper overnight. That made it dry but, it was unhappy about losing its pencil marks; I couldn't erase it without scraping away some of the hard-earned ink lines.

So, I recovered it in Photoshop. I hope you and, especially, Snowbind like it. It was fun to do. If SB wants the real image, they'll have to wait until I can re-draw it. I also hope it isn't too gross. I originally had the creature pouring out of the host's mouth. That was grosser.

The title, Bastion, is meant to be a play on words. A bastion is a defensive wall. I was writing down all sorts of names like "protector" and "defender' but, because she is huge and the last line of defense, I named her after a wall. The play on words comes when I changed the name of the main character, the young American man who was transformed into the female Qilin/Kirin to Sebastian.
