I had someone ask me "What is up with the Bunny Girls and the ears?" Is that a playboy reference?
And no, they aren't. But I can see how someone could think that.

I have twin girls who came along as a surpsise quite late in life. Twins often spend some time in ICU because of their size. One was 2.5 pounds and one 4.5 pounds. They stayed their for about 10 days, and one of the nurses called them 'her cute little bunnies.' The name stuck.

I started telling them bed time stories each night, making them up as I went along. Phantom Tollboth had been a big hit with them, especially the twin princesses at the end. So it was only natural (to us at least) that my stories were about the twin Bunny Princesses in the land of Bunnopia. They were tall, beautiful, crafty...and had Bunny Ears.

Yes, i can see you nodding at this revelation, but still puzzled. Why a curse for losing to a boss?
That's because I love the mechanic. In game terms it's just a small annoyance when you lose to a boss, and makes you try again. Kill the boss, no more curse. It comes from a game I play called Project Gorgon. Some of those curses became popular with players. Who wouldn't want to spend time as a cow or have a rainstorm over your head?

So in BoG, it seemed natural to me that if you lose to the horrible, undead Mayor of the Bunny Barrow...you get some floopy bunny ears on your head. And if you win, you get long, beautiful ears and a perception bonus when you transform your ears. The three 'Bunny Girls': Charlie, Dot, and Libby can have normal ears or bunny ears, their choice. They look much better than those bedraggled ones Val and Strongarm have to wear until they figure out how to kill Mayor Burpicus.

Not all Bosses in my story will have curses. Just the fun ones.

My twins are 16 now, and still like to be told stories, and sometimes they influence things in the world of GENESIS.
