Also, some facts about the name of the comic! Per aspera ad astra is a latin phrase that means through hardship to the stars. I had latin for a year in highschool* and it was one of the more popular phrases to learn, because it was short and cool. Years later, when joking with a friend we came up with a phrase per rectum ad astra, through asshole to the stars and I could never forget it. I shortened it to Ad Asstra, which I think carries the spirit of it.
I also think a pseudo-latin phrase as title works well for a comic about a scientist!

There is also a movie called Ad Astra which I haven't seen yet and there is no intended connection to it. 
Also, per aspera ad astra is the motto of the US state of Kansas, thanks to CrazyLace for letting me know!

*in Poland the education system is very different than it is in the US. We don't get to pick the classes we take and we attend all our classes together in a group of about 30 kids. However, in middle- and high-school it's often possible to pick a class profile, such as humanist, biology, computer science etc, which would have an emphasis on specific classes and an extended curriculum.
