Good (time period)!

I've got a new video for ya today, and it was possible thanks to you in more ways than one! I was getting stuck in my research on why exactly enclosed CFLs had such poopy cold start performance, and folks in the Discord server were able to hook me up with a paper which confirmed the thread I was pulling on.

As ever, this started out more simply than it ended up being. But in many ways this is a classic episode - while this is ostensibly about this weird light bulb, you'll learn a lot about fluorescent light technology (as I did, too!)

I was thinking I might release this tomorrow but that might be in poor taste. So I'll hold off until Monday and be an anti-April Fools person. I may work on captions tonight if I have time but that might have to wait until tomorrow.

Bright from the Start: GE's improvement to the CFL (and why it briefly needed to exist)

Clunky title? Perhaps. Definitely gonna have the ol' arrow pointing at the bulb with "A Hybrid Light Bulb" in the thumbnail.

Hi Alec. A great (potential) follow up on the whole subject of CFL's would be how they made them (and also strip lights) dimmable. I still have the first ever dimmable CFL which had to have an associated specific dimmer with it. How did they achieve that? https://www.varilight.co.uk/lighting/dimmer-dimmable-cfls.php
