Sales tax (Patreon)

No, this isn't some veiled innuendo, this is actually about sales tax. Patreon is probably going to pester some of you about it in a few days, but I thought I'd let you know beforehand.

As of July 1st, Patreon is required in some countries and US states to start charging sales tax on pledges. This already happens for EU countries, but now they're obliged to do it for more countries around the globe.

The charge is likely a very small percentage and differs based on what your country or state deems taxable. For example, sales tax rates in the US range from 4% to 11%, so on a $5 pledge, that would be between 20 cents and 55 cents. Patreon has compiled a FAQ on the matter which you can find here.
