I have been struggling to dig myself out of the hole of my life lately, which has caused me to fall way behind on bonus video uploads. But I'm getting back on track! I'll try to make up for it by the end of the month, beginning here with a new VHS rip of Game Tech Video. I apologize in advance for the spectacle of "Indiaman," but that gross misstep aside, this is an interesting video! There's a huge segment on the Genpei Toumaden board game and a look at a canceled game that would have been the world's true console roguelike. This VHS series is interesting!

GTV: Game Tech Video Vol. 8 [Sept. 1988] VHS Rip

The eighth issue of Sony's Famicom-era VHS magazine Game Tech Video showcases both the good and the bad of the publication's unconventional approach to coverage. On the bad side, they really go all-in on baseball coverage (as was the way of all Japanese game pubs around this time) with two separate segments devoted to an R.B.I. Baseball tournament, including a magazine-sponsored participant called "Indiaman" who is... a Japanese man dressed in an Arabian Nights vest and turban eating curry between rounds. Not great! On the other hand, you do get a better look at the board game component of Namco's strange Famicom rendition of Genpei Toumaden than Famimaga Video offered. So that's good. The most interesting thing here, though?
