Ray was a Washington-based editor for USA TODAY, where he supervised the newspaper's coverage of the White House, military, money in politics, and health care. He was also on the Washington, DC bureau's team of investigative reporters. Ray is the author of two books: Nixon's Gamble: How a President’s Own Secret Government Destroyed His Administration and Haig's Coup: How Richard Nixon's Closest Aide Forced Him from Office.
